CSU, Chico School of Education SSP Handbook SECTION 4

Performance Assessment for California Teachers (PACT) Credential candidates in the Single Subject Program will need to successfully complete the Performance Assessment for California Teachers (PACT) before they are recommended for a teaching credential. Go to the following website, scroll down to the section titled Introduction to the PACT Assessment System and click on the Teaching Event Handbooks and Teaching Event Rubrics links. http://www.pacttpa.org/_main/hub.php?pageName=Home Download, print and place in your handbook these materials to complete the teaching event that corresponds with your content area.

PACT Remediation Process and Candidate Agreement Form In the event that a candidate fails PACT, s/he will be provided two more opportunities to attempt successful completion of the event. In each case, a remediator will be assigned for direction and guidance. If the candidate fails the second attempt, s/he will be given only one more opportunity to pass. The candidate is required to bear the entire cost of the remediation for the third and final attempt. For the first resubmission attempt, the candidate and the program coordinator will be notified that the candidate has failed as soon as full results are available from two independent scorers. The assessment coordinator will arrange for an appropriately credentialed and calibrated PACT remediator for the candidate. The remediator will review the score set and submitted event and will then give guidance to the candidate on how to improve their teaching style for their next attempt. The first resubmission attempt will be completed within the semester that the first attempt was made. The exact date of submission can be set for the break after the semester (as long as all in class work for the PACT is completed while the candidates placement is still in session). This date will be determined by the program coordinator after discussion with the candidate. There is no cost to the candidate for the first resubmission attempt. If the first resubmission attempt fails, the candidate will be given a final resubmission attempt in the following semester. The candidate will be matched with an appropriately credentialed and calibrated PACT remediator for extended remediation guidance and will be placed to administer the PACT lesson in the remediators classroom. This attempt will have a cost of $460 to the candidate (paid for by enrollment in a course through Open University) to pay for the remediator and administrative costs. This is the final submission for PACT Assessment; no further tries will be permitted. Resubmission Attempt (Circle One): Date: ______________________ First or Final
