A.1. Live in Linguistics: Catherine Chvany, Slavic Liguist, May 5. “Lives in Linguistics”
is a series of conversations with distinguished linguists invited to the Chicago campus to
discuss the changes they have seen in the field over their careers. This series will be
videotaped, forming the basis of a permanent document in which these senior scholars
view the important people and events that they have experienced in the field of linguistics

B.1. Presentation and signing of the book “The Peasant Prince”, written by Mr. Alex
Storozynski, prominent American Journalist and recently elected President of the
Kosciuszko Foundation of New York. Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2 p.m. Consulate General
of the Republic of Poland 1530 N. Lake Shore Dr. “The Peasant Prince” is the first
comprehensive biography of the most legendary figure in Polish history - Kosciuszko,
who Jefferson called “as pure a son of liberty as I have ever known, and of that liberty
which is to go to all, and not to the few or rich alone”.

B.2. Facets Multi-Media will be premiering Private Century, a documentary series that
reveals the history of 20th Century Czechoslovakia through the actual home movies of
people who lived through the era. See how the major world events of the 20th century –
the Depression, World War II, Communism – affected the average family. The series will
be spellbinding for those of Czech descent, students of Eastern European culture and
history, and fans of documentary filmmaking. See attachment for detailed information.
