VISAS AND RESIDENCE PERMITS FOR STUDENTS GOING TO STUDY IN LITHUANIA

Documents required receiving the Temporary Residence permit (TRP) (Leidimas laikinai gyventi - LLG) for studies in Lithuania: 1. Passport copy (certified by notary public), passport must be valid at least + 3 months from the date when TRP expires; 2. Special residence permit application form (filled in block letters in Lithuanian/English languages including photo) can be taken in migration office web-site; 3. Document constituting that applicant will have enough funds (translation could be certified in Lithuanian Embassy). Applying for TRP in Lithuania students can submit also the bank transcript, where should be stated that the students has on the account the 500,00 LTL for each month of TRP applying period, i.e. 6000 LTL (1.737,72 EUR) for one study year; 4. Admission letter of the university; 5. Mediation letters from University (1. For residence permit for 1 year studies, 2. For D visa for 6 months studies waiting the residence permit); 6. Document constituting that applicant will have place of residence while in Lithuania (it could be included in Mediation letter); 7. Residence permit fee: 400 LTL (300,00 LTL or 100,00 EUR paid at the applying and 100,00 LTL paid in Lithuania after receiving of residence permit). 8. Applying for TRP in Lithuania when less than 5 months are left until the end of the validity of D visa, the students should fulfill special application for consideration of the application until the end of validity of D visa (application form could be received at the university). All above-mentioned copies have to be certified by notary public (National documents by notary of home country, Lithuanian - by Lithuanian notary). All documents have to be whether laid down in Lithuanian language or to be translated and certified by authorized translator. The documents listed under subsections 4. 5. and 6. will be prepared and sent to applicant by the University. Candidates for studies in Lithuania should apply for residence permit and visa appearing personally to the Embassy of Lithuania with all documents that are required. Migration Department (that is the institution which grands the TRP) has up to 6 month for decision making, when they decide to issue permission of residence to particular person. Applying for residence permit the candidates apply also for single entrance D category visa (it is issued for 3-6 months) in order to get to Lithuania. They should apply for visa appearing to the Embassy personally and presenting the documents required for D category visa:

passport (it should be valid at least + 3 months from the date when permission of residence expires); filled application form for D visa with 1 photo;

international health insurance (for the validity period of visa); confirmed (and valid !) air ticket reservation; Mediation letter and admission letter from University (see subsections 4 and 6 above); Visa fee: 60 EUR.

D category single visa is issued during 7-14 days but only after positive decision of the Migration Department. Important note: The D visa and TRP are valid only for Lithuania and other Schengen countries ! Travelling to Lithuania You should choose for the transit only airports which are located in Schengen countries (f.e. You can not travel through United Kingdom or Ireland, if You dont have British visa). If the students apply for Temporary Residence permit (TRP) (Leidimas laikinai gyventi LLG) or Lithuanian D visa being in Lithuania they should be legally in European Union. The students should attach the payment receipt from bank (or post office) to TRP or D visa application in Kaunas Migration Office. Making the payments in bank (or post office) students should have the payments data: Code of payment (mokos kodas): 5740 Beneficiary (gavjas): Kauno apskrities VM Bank (bankas): AB Swedbankas IBAN account No (sskaita): LT24 7300 0101 1239 4300 Payment details: For processing of TRP docs (U LLG dokument tvarkym) 300,00 Lt; For issue of TRP (U LLG forminim) 100,00 Lt; For D visa (U D viz) 207,00 Lt. There is the post office in Aleksandras Stulginskis University, where the payments could be made: Central building, room 127.
