However, it appears, like most of the church experts advised,‖ a blended worship Dottie Gates

survey-building software—SurveyMonkey—to collect thoughts and ideas from our
congregation. While we have to date (June 1) received only 14 responses (probably Anniversaries:
not enough to really gauge people’s corporate ―feelings about worship‖), the ones that June 1 Larry and Carole Blankenship

Where do we go?—to God of course! Let me invite all of us to seek God’s
wisdom and direction for our worship patterns here at our church. I will as well. Let’s
see where God wants us to go. For the summer, we will continue our blended pattern
with one time of worship. Our attendance for one service is comparable to attendance Memorial Gifts

Speaking of the Summer, I plan on preaching a ―Summer Sermon Series‖ on Charlie & Pat Fisher
King David from 1st & 2nd Samuel and 1st Kings. This summer the three-year cycle of Chapter 109, NARFE
bible readings used in worship (the Lectionary) has continuous Old Testament readings Terrell & Neva Sessums

Sign on for Teacher Training Now! Let us schedule you for a
training class SOON. Let us assure you that you will never be asked
to face a class alone – there will always be another trained person
in the class with you (that’s our policy!). Get classroom instruction
from real educators, from experienced leaders, and from on-the-job
opportunities as an assistant teacher while you learn. Call on these
persons now to express your interest in answering God’s call to
help our next generation of young people to learn about the Bible,
Christian living, and Methodist heritage. Be sure to let them know your
preference of days and times for training:

WHAT ARE OUR YOUTH UP TO THIS SUMMER? Matt Heitz has several ideas in
the works for our youth this summer. The first big event coming up will be a
―Wilderness Trail‖ trip from June 13 through 22nd. Those youth (and adult chaperones)
attending will be hiking on a section of the Appalachian Trail and participating in
various events along the trail. Please keep our youth in your prayers that they may
enjoy a safe summer, in whatever activities and adventures they undertake.
Help me celebrate a birthday milestone by helping Metropolitan
Ministries
I have recently celebrated the 31st anniversary of my 39th birthday! I had thought I
would invite all of you to help me celebrate my 100th birthday someday. Because I
know many of you won’t be around for my 100th and because of these uncertain
economic times, I’ve decided, instead of a party, to ask each of you to observe my 70th
birthday milestone by bringing 2 or 3 non-perishable food items for our church’s food
collection containers for Metropolitan Ministries. (There’s a barrel located just outside
Allen Hall and a red tub on the second floor by the church office.) God bless you!

Our first mission team breakfast will be held on Sunday,
June 7, from 8-8:45. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage,
scrambled eggs, orange juice, coffee or tea. Tickets will be $5 for
adults and $3 for children 10 and under and may be purchased at
the door. Profit will benefit SHUMC Missions.
We plan for this to become a monthly event, held the first
Sunday of each month.
