Presbyterian Missionary Union is a non-profit missions agency associated with the Bible Presbyterian Church. Our purpose is to
advance the cause of missions that are biblically based and practiced and to stand against any compromise of the saving gospel of
Jesus Christ. PMU is directed by a Council of Christian leaders who volunteer their time to guide the ministry. To learn more about
missions opportunities through PMU, or about the BPC, please contact us. The Missions Banner is published ten times a year for
interested individuals and churches. It seeks to promote the clear stand of the BPC by providing a biblical perspective on issues,
fads, and theories in missions and church development. Editor: Len Pine. Publisher: James S. Blizzard
Mark Drives a Moto—or does it drive him?
We keep hoping to print a photo of Mark on his ‘moto’, however, since he is the one who takes all the Cambodia pho-
tos, we assume he hasn't found a way to drive and photograph the action all at the same time. Mark wrote us, “...there
has been a strong breeze that is a bit challenging. My tiny 100 cc moto has no stabil-
ity so the gusts between buildings often catch me by surprise and blow me around a
bit—I need to drive slower when the wind is up.” Mark will be in the states to attend
Synod; meanwhile, he is concentrating on language studies with the goal of being
able to teach and preach in Khmer. Mark also wrote, “...we had our first power fail-
ure since I’ve been back in Cambodia. It was completely dark except for car head-
lights and a few big buildings (mostly hotels). I doubt it impacts traffic much, since
few people pay attention to the traffic lights, anyway, so when they are out it’s no big
deal!” Continue to uphold Mark in prayer as he serves the Lord in Cambodia.

The La Paz BPC Adds a New Sanctuary

We are happy to report
that the BPC of La Paz is
making great progress on
its new sanctuary building
project. The work was be-
gun in early March and is
being done almost entirely
by hand. As you can see in
the photos, the skeleton of
the building is nearing
completion. The Lord will-
ing, the building will be
finished this fall and will be dedicated at the end of November. We
praise the Lord for His provision for this much needed expansion.

Myanmar (Burma) Experiences Growth on Every Front

The BPC in Yangon is growing and we now have thirty-seven communicant members. Our mission work in the Inlay
area is slow but moving forward. We have baptized a few believers there and worship services are held every Sunday
with missionary Pazar taking care of them. The BPC planting at Aung-tha-pyi is also growing and we three new bap-
tized believers. There is also a worship service there every Sunday and Mr. Ruata (Ye Aung Thun) preaches. The BPC
planting at Namhu is also moving forward. Summer Camp was held there and the salvation message was well received.
Mr. Chante (Soe Lwin) is the preacher.
Our orphanage ministry has grown to twenty-one children located at two centers, one in Yangon and the other at
Aung-Tha-pyi. The purpose is threefold: caring for the orphans and under privileged children, showing the true Chris-
tian love and training them to become the future missionaries and evangelists.
New doors are opening to us: the seven churches in southern Chin State and the New Life Church in Yangon are pray-
ing to be affiliated with the BP Church. Also a group of believers at my home village are praying to start a BP church.

Rev. Sidwell Installed in Apollo BPC

The service of installation for the Rev. Chris Sidwell as pastor of Apollo, PA,
Bible Presbyterian Church was held on Sunday evening, April 29, 2007. Ap-
proximately 100 people attended the service. In addition to the elders of the
Apollo church, the following ministers and elders participated in the service:
Revs. Keith Burd, Paul Durand, Mark Evans, Jerry Gardner, Ken Olson and Ben
Robinson; and Elders Brad Gsell and Dan Swain. The Rev. Stephen Scott-
Pierson, of the Protestant Alliance of Great Britain, gave the message.
Messages of congratulations were received from various Christian leaders and
the members of the Apollo church hosted a reception following the service.

VBS Attendance Doubles at Knoxville BPC

The June 25-29 Vacation Bible School at the BPC in Knoxville was a success.
Many gathered in an ongoing effort to build a children’s ministry at the church.
The Lord provided as the team was able to participate in various ministries. The
theme of the VBS was “The Race is On.” Young people from the church and the
community and from afar heard the gospel and learned about finishing the race
set before us. God blessed. Attendance was more than double last year’s atten-
dance. Pray for the on-going follow up. Several good contacts were made.
We thank God for this opportunity and for those who helped bring it to frui-
tion: the Blizzards from Florida, the Durands from South Carolina, and from
Knoxville the Nichols, the Russels, the Underwoods, George Turley, Eric Pas-
torek and Jason Gaul.—Rev. Jerry Gardner
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and
the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” Heb. 12:1
