Welcome!
Dear International Student:
I am pleased to welcome you to Northern Arizona University and to this community of students and scholars. You will be joining almost 20,000 students, including more than 1,000 international students, who have chosen to pursue their academic objectives on this campus. Whether you are a freshman, transfer student, graduate student or exchange student, I am confident that you will have an exciting, stimulating and rewarding experience. NAU faculty and staff are committed to your academic success. I encourage you to seek them out, make their acquaintance, and seek the help and guidance that they are only too willing to provide. While meeting your academic obligations must be a priority, I encourage you to make time for social and cultural experiences. Join a student organization, attend the events that are sponsored weekly on the campus, explore the town of Flagstaff and its lively downtown scene, and take advantage of the great outdoors and the natural beauty of this scenic mountain town. There are many support services at NAU, but the Center for International Education, in particular, is deeply committed to your success at this institution. Please contact any of the advisers at CIEs Office of International Student and Scholar Services if you need help of one sort or the other. You will either receive the information you need or you will be referred to the appropriate office where you will be helped. My wish for you is that you will have a well-rounded, transformative experience as an NAU student. I sincerely hope that your intellectual curiosity will be heightened, that you will have a rich cross-cultural experience interacting with the diversity of students represented at NAU, and probably most importantly, that you will learn much about yourself in the process. I have met many international alumni of NAU who have said repeatedly that NAU has changed their lives. I wish the same for you. Sincerely, Dr. Harvey Charles 2 Vice Provost for International Education
