Ex: Holding a meeting to tell the team how to order shirts. Meetings @ work held by your boss to explain that the dress code policy had changed
Chalk talk- these speeches have the speaker relying on visual aids.
A coach using a white board to show the team a play, or how to arrange offense or defense is an example of CHALK TALK.
6 Cs of Informative Speaking
*An informative speech should be developed using the 6 Cs. 1. Be CLEAR 2. Be CONCISE 3. Be COMPLETE 4. Be CORRECT 5. BE CONCRETE 6. CONNECT
1. Be CLEAR..
Make an effort to be clear what your speech is about. Use clear and solid definitions that your audience will understand. Dont assume that your audience will know what you are talking about. Explain yourself. If you are using comparing or contrasting ideas or examples, make sure your audience is familiar with your ideas or examples
2. Be CONCISE.
Be concise with your choice of language. Dont be redundant. Dont be too wordy..dont ramble on and on repeating yourself with different words. Make each spoken word count!!
3. Be COMPLETE.
It helps to use 3 main points and when giving your speech stateFirst.. This helps the audience know where your are in your speech. (Roadmapping & Signposting) Working from a plan or outline forces you to put your information in order--which helps your speech sound more complete.
4. Be CORRECT.
There is no substitute for being accurate. Checking the accuracy of your information goes straight to your credibility as a speaker.
5. Be CONCRETE..
Focus on the immediate and actual. Talk in terms of people, places, and things (concrete).rather than abstractions. This helps your audience get a mental picture of what you mean.
6. CONNECT
Analyze your audience.. Be aware of what your audience is thinking or feeling. Think of how people would react to something you might say in your speech. Find a way to make a CONNECTION with your audience while giving your speech.

Find a Subject
Think of a subject(s) that is of interest to you. Personal experiences (you have at least 15 years of experience) Observations (your environment, be an observer..) Surveys (be alert to constant topics in your conversations, news events, trends in movies or TV.)
Now that you have chosen a subject you must narrow the field to a specific idea for your speech. You cannot expect to cover everything during your speech, so have some ideas about what you do want to include in your speech.
FACTS, FACTS, FACTS!!!! You must have RESEARCH material to support your comments. Make sure what you say can be verified!!
Tell a story
Anecdote- a short story that illustrates a point. Short stories can spice up a speech. Also a great opportunity for the speaker to connect with the audience. The story can help the audience create a visual image
Quotes.
Help the credibility of your speech. Make sure the person you are quoting is well known by your audience. Improves and Increases audience believability. Dont over use quotes. The speech wont sound like yours anymore.
