Volunteer Coordinator Job Description with Estimated Hours

Responsible for entire volunteer program:

Task
Recruit Volunteers

Description
Recruit volunteers through the TSN newsletter, email, community events, community calendars, church connections, volunteer fairs, social media, etc. Hold volunteer interest meetings and/or schedule meetings with individuals as needed. Along with Executive Director interview TLC volunteers. Serve on all development committees (from P&P). Work with Development Director to recruit chair for all committees (from P&P). As lead, but with input from others, identify volunteer opportunities (roles, times, # of volunteers needed) Schedule volunteers for volunteer opportunities or provide sign up. Attend volunteer driven events or recruit event volunteer coordinator. Assess training options On occasion help create training Schedule training sessions Maintain volunteer database Process Volunteer Interest Forms & Applications Facilitate background checks Contact References Track volunteer hours Track training hours

Estimated hours
2-3 hours per week

Coordinate volunteer activities (individuals and groups)

7-10 hours per week, more during major events

Facilitate Volunteer Training Maintain volunteer data

1-2 hours per week

Recognize Volunteers

Description
Ongoing recognition through notes, e-mail, etc. Along with chosen volunteer create a volunteer spotlight article each month As lead, but with input from others, select recipients, acquire awards, plan annual awards presentation. Internally o Receive volunteer referrals from exec. director/dev. director and church liason and others o Receive volunteer needs from event chairs o Provide volunteer opportunities to church liason and communication team for publication in the newsletter, on social media, and on the website o Provide volunteer spotlight to dev. director for newsletter o Provide volunteer roster to event chairs Externally o Maintain relationships with volunteers. Provide feedback and recognition to volunteers. o Along with church liaison and development director maintain relationships with volunteer providers from church and community orgs. o Publish volunteer opportunities on community calendars
