ABSTRACT Romapa, Norolain T. ADMINISTRATORS PROFICIENCY AND TEACHERS JOB SATISFACTION IN THE HINTERLAND PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS OF ILIGAN CITY DIVISION:A BASIS FOR AN ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM . Master in Management Major in Educational Management. Iligan Medical Center College, Pala-o, Iligan City, March 2013. Adviser: FLORAMI B. DADOLE, Ed.D. This study aimed to find out if the Administrators proficiency and job satisfaction of hinterland teachers of Iligan City Division are significantly related. The study covers 126 teachers as respondents. It used the descriptive survey method with correlational analysis to process the data and employed purposive sampling. The research instruments used in the study are the standardized questionnaires on Job Satisfaction adopted from the study of Bantilan (2012); Competency Tests adopted from Goleman (1995) and Administrators Proficiency adopted from the study of Disomimba (2011). These instruments made possible the gathering of data for this study especially on the Personal Profile of the Respondents; their Personal and Social Competencies; their job satisfaction and their rating on their Administrators Proficiency. Based on the analysis of the data, the following were major findings: Majority of the hinterland public elementary school teachers are above 40 years old with 53 or 42.06 %; 63 or 50.00% are Bachelors Degree holders; 54 or 42.86% has 10 years and above teaching experience; 87 or 69.05% has residence 9 kms. and more away from the school ; 59 or 46.13% are still in the Teacher I position; and are socially competent with 4.13 or often. It was also found out that among the variables included in the measure of job satisfaction, the highest was on Work Relationships with a weighted mean of 3.27 interpreted as satisfied and the lowest was on General Working Conditions with 2.55 less satisfied. On the School Administrators proficiency, the highest rating was on Professional Obligation with 3.04 interpreted as proficient and supervisory proficiency as the lowest with a weighted mean of 2.47 or fair. Teachers profile and Administrators proficiency were not significantly related and so with Administrators proficiency and the teachers job satisfaction. It is recommended that (1) The school administrators should improve their supervisory proficiency because this is one of the most important functions that they have it was only rated as satisfactory, (2) It is very revealing that the teachers in the hinterlands have specifically viewed that they are less satisfied with general working conditions, Hence, the school authorities should study the possibility of flexible time and benefits such as vacation/sick leave with pay, (3) The teachers should also look into the opportunity of exerting more effort to be very exceptional in their job to merit a promotion. It is hard work and showing of distinctive abilities that will give their opportunity for promotion.
