Flexible Eddy Current Array Probe

The Flexible Eddy Current Array probe is now available. Suitable for use in any field, its innovative flexible PCB design enables it to fit any curvature. This new probe can be used to perform a wide range of applications that were previously difficult to accomplish with eddy current. The cable can be disconnected from the probe to facilitate probe replacement, and different cables can be used to set different modes for the same probe. Our two distinct cable models make it possible to use the same probe with two different coil configurations: bridge and reflection. Bridge is used for nonferromagnetic materials like aluminum and titanium, and reflection is used for ferromagnetic materials such as Duplex and stainless steel. This technology functions as a ready-to-use probe when used with a shape holder, and can also be mounted directly on a scanner using the appropriate holder. In addition, both the probe and the cable are available as off-the-shelf items.

Turbine Blade Inspection

Offers flat, curve, or swept-surface inspection. A ready-to-use tool that is capable of validating any part for inspection, and especially suitable for those with complex shapes.

Wheel Inspection
The probe can be adapted to fit any specific curve shape when used with a custom holder. Using a customers sample or a mechanical drawing of the part, its easy to develop a custom holder that will make the flex probe a perfect fit for the part being inspected.

Weld Inspection
The probe can be connected to a scanner using the appropriate holder.

Fast Customization

External Multiplexer for Increased Number of Coils

The FBB probe and cable are available as off-the-shelf products for fast lead times. In addition, our mechanical design capabilities enable us to respond quickly to requests for custom holders. A part drawing or sample from the customer is all we need to quickly design a custom holder for the flex probe.

The OmniScan is also capable of driving 64 channels through an external multiplexer, which could be either two 32-element probes, or one 64-element probe. This capability makes it possible to upgrade coverage without changing the coil size.

Customizable Reference Material Capability

Reference Coils
Easy access to reference coils means that a material sample can be placed over the coils for improved probe balancing.

Reference Material
Insert a piece of material similar to the one to be inspected. Cut the sample yourself, or order it from Olympus.

Customizable reference material capability is only possible with the CAB-032-OM2_5 cable due to the wiring configuration. 3
