After the Fire Comes Promotion Pastor Sean Pinder Thou hast caused men to ride over our

heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place. (Psalm 66:1) The same God that brought David through trials brought him into a wealthy place. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. (Isaiah 43:2) This is one of my favorite Scriptures. I first read it soon after I first got saved. Rivers and waters are always symbolic of tribulations and trials. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning fiery

furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. (Dan. 3:16-22) We read about this fire twice. The same people that threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego into the fiery furnace got killed by the fire. I see this throughout the Bible. Any time a person sets a trap against the people of God, the trap always takes the person out instead. Haman got hanged on his own gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. The men who made the lions den for Daniel got thrown into it. Look at Judas. He betrayed Jesus and caused Him to be crucified, but what happened to him? He went out and hanged himself. The devil has you targeted, but no weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Just when God starts moving in your life, here comes the devil. He wants to pull you out of the anointing. If he can do that, its like taking a fish out of water. It will whip you. You have to stay in the anointing. When you walk in a flood tide anointing, the devil wants to say anything to make you forget what God did and said. If you forget what God did and said, you start to feel discouraged and feel filthy and dirty. Thats the devil, not God. We serve a clean, Holy Ghost. The closer you get to your destiny in God, the more the devil attacks because he knows something is

about to bust wide open. Youve got vision. obvious youre going somewhere.

And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellers, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. (Dan. 3:23-25) Even the devil and the people persecuting you are going to see. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies (Ps. 23:5). Right on the brink of hell, in the presence of all the devils and demons, God is making you successful. These men were chained and shackled up. But the king saw them walking around loose. Verse 25 says that they had no hurt. I dont care if you are in the fire, it wont even touch you. The Fourth Man is in the fire with you. Fear thou not; for I am with theeI will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10). God is there all along; He doesnt take a break. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep (Ps. 121:4). The king said in verse 25: the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Not only is He like Him; Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus said, Who do men say that I am? Peter said, Thou art the Christ. (Matt. 16:16). Peters attitude was, Theres no like here; I know Who Im seeing.

Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, came forth of the midst of the fire. (Dan. 3:26) You know somethings happening when even the devils confessing, These are servants of the most high God. God is encouraging you and strengthening you; He knows what you need. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you (Matt 5:44). Love your enemies, but draw the line. Let them know, You can come here and no further. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34). Theyre not doing it to you; theyre doing it to Jesus. The Apostle Paul said, Christ liveth in me (Gal. 2:20). Thats how deep your enemies relationship is with God; they dont have one. Jesus said in Matt. 25:40: Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Hebrews 6:6 says theyre trampling afresh the blood of Jesus. Job said, But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold (Job 23:10). When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego came out of the fiery furnace, all Nebuchadnezzar could see was pure purity. These men were not cursing the king or losing their temper. The king said, Come forth. I hear the real King saying, Come forth. Im putting you on display.

One thing about these men is that they were submissive. They recognized the kings authority was Gods authority. They stayed right there in the fire. If youre where Jesus is, its safe there. Jesus had been through a storm at sea with His disciples, sleeping while they were panicking. Jesus said, My peace I give unto you (John 14:27). Jesus said, The same peace I had in the storm when I was sleeping, I give to you. We see this in the book of Acts. When Peter was in prison, getting ready to be killed, he was sleeping. You know that was supernatural. You know something transpired after Christ ascended to Heaven. He said, Ill be with you, then He said, Ill be in you. The same Christ that was in the boat, sleeping in the boat, lives in me! He lives! Bring it on, devil! Throw me into the fire. Throw me into the water. Christ lives in me. He said, My peace I give to you He is the Prince of Peace. He gave Himself to those disciples. Sometimes, I go through some crazy stuff and people say, How can you be so calm? Its not I, but Christ. The same was true of Stephen. When they were stoning him, he said, Lay not this sin to their charge. That must have haunted the people stoning him. They must have thought, Weve heard those words before. They remind us of Jesus: Father, forgive them For someone to receive forgiveness, there has to be a preacher. On the Day of Pentecost, Peter confirmed what Jesus said. Peter said, I know you crucified Him in ignorance. Watch the fulfillment of Christs prayers. After Peter preached, 3,000 people repented. Jesus prayed, Father, forgive them and it came to pass. Thats why Jesus said, Pray for those who use you and persecute you.

I was at a place where I was being persecuted very heavily, and I read the words of Jesus in Matthew: Pray for those I started praying for them, and God said, Call them and tell them you appreciate them. Both they and I wept when I called. When they stoned Stephen, they were giving their coats to the Apostle Paul. When Stephen prayed, Father, forgive them, Saul was right there giving them approval to stone Stephen to death. He didnt know Stephens prayer was about to be answered. He was walking down the Damascus road with letters from the high priest, getting ready to go persecute more Christians. But, at midday, a bright light knocked him off his horse. Jesus forgave Pauls sins as an answer to Stephens prayer. Yes, they may persecute you. They may stone you. But pray for them, because God will save them. He will sanctify them. He will lift them up. Keep praying for them; its not in vain. We forgive them, Lord, and we ask you to forgive them, because they dont know what theyre doing. Paul the Apostle became an apostle because of Stephens prayer. Can you imagine Stephen in heaven saying, Paul, I know my prayers about to get answered. Youre about to get saved, Paul! Can you imagine God saying, Look, Stephen! Hes about to get saved! Can you imagine Stephen leaping and praising God? God is merciful. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations (Ps. 100:5). And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellers, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their

coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them. (Dan. 3:27) I like this. This wasnt done in secret; God let the kings men know who was in charge. Ill bet those princes werent looking down on the three Hebrews after they came out of that fire. They looked down on them before, but now some of them were on their knees, begging for mercy. Not one strand on their hair was singed. Do you know how easy it is to singe hair with fire? Some of you ladies can smell your hair being singed when you use your curling irons, but their hair wasnt singed. If you hang around fire for ten seconds, you come out smelling like smoke, but the smell of smoke couldnt even touch them. And I think, Thats Who lives in me? You know Im not backing down from any devil. Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God. (Dan. 3:28) At this point, Nebuchadnezzar realized he wasnt the real King. He said, [God] hath sent His angel Hes all confused; earlier he said it looked like the Son of God, now hes saying its his angel. Nebuchadnezzar realized God had changed the kings word In that time, when the king set his seal on a matter, it was a done deal. You were finished. But the king said, Im changing this word. I see someone greater hanging out with these guys. Id better dig my ears out and listen.

Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort. (Dan. 3:29) The king was a little late. He realized he didnt make the real decrees. His decree was that anybody that didnt bow down to his golden image would get thrown into the fire and get burned. These three men got thrown in, but the part where they were supposed to burn didnt happen. The king realized, Theres somebody higher than I am. If you read further in this chapter, you read where God turned the king into almost an eagle. After seven years, the king caught himself and said, Im not in charge. Here in Verse 29, he realized, I cant beat them, Id better join them. He realized these guys were ready to take his position as king. The people were probably ready to worship Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He was securing his position; he was a good politician! Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, in the province of Babylon. (Dan. 3:30) After you go through the fire, its promotion time. The king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. After Daniel came out from the lions den, he got promoted. What youre going through is not in vain. God said, Youve passed the test; youve proven your faithfulness to me. Now Im going to prove my faithfulness to you.
