A PIANO RECITAL WITH PHILIP EAMES & VIOLINIST CAMILLE BARRY


Camille Barry violinist was born in Brisbane, and has performed as a solo, chamber and orchestral musician in Australia and across the UK and Europe. Granted eyarly entry to the Queensland Conservatorium, Camille completed her Bachelors Degree under the tutelage of Elizabeth Morgan. She was awarded a scholarship to complete postgraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music Manchester, with Malcolm Layfield, and on completion of her Masters, was awarded the Philip Newman Prize for outstanding musical achievement. She has performed as soloist with numerous orchestras, and has been a successful prize-winner in a number of national and international competitions. Camille currently freelances as an orchestral musician and solo recitalist throughout Australia, as well as tutoring at Griffith Universitys Young Conservatorium. She plays an 1897 Degani violin.

Pianist and composer Philip Eames, whos playing has been described as playful, mischievous, and vivacious (The Australian Times) is much in demand as soloist and guest artist having performed with major Australian and international orchestras and festivals, including the World Event Young Artists, the Ligetti Academy, and the 2010 ABC Young Performers Awards. He is the recipient of many notable prizes and scholarships including the 2011 Redlands Arts Council Youth Development Fund Scholarship, the Australian Postgraduate Award, an Ars Musica Australis Fellowship, and generous support from the Tait Memorial Trust, Redland City Council, and the PPCA Performers Trust Association. Currently a PhD candidate at the Sydney Conservatorium under Professor Anne Boyd, Philip holds two Master of Music degrees with Distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and the Qld Conservatorium of Music, also having been awarded a Bachelor of Music in Advanced Performance, First Class Honours from this institution. As a composer he was announced the winner of the 2013 Tagore Composition Competition, awarded first place in the 2010 ASKM Composers Competition, and has had his compositions and performed internationally, including in New York and Edinburgh. Philip has actively commissioned new works and frequently participates not only as a soloist, but also as an orchestral and chamber pianist with a wide variety of new-music ensembles, involving many world, Australian and UK premieres of major composers, including George Antheil, Matthew Hindson and Donnacha Dennehy. He is an experienced choral conductor, and served as Musical Director to the Greater Manchester Police Male Voice Choir. Philip is looking forward to returning to the Redlands to perform in his home town.

Come and enjoy a varied program of exciting upbeat, entertaining and theatrical works. The concert will explore a wide array of music from violin works of the Baroque, to the Jazz-influenced music by Australia's well-known Percy Grainger, all united by the concept of 'coming from afar.' "
