33 Days to Morning Glory Do It Yourself Retreat In preparation for Marian Consecration By Fr. Michael Gaitley
Fr. Michael's book prescribes 33 days of "spiritual reading and prayerful pondering." The book is broken down so that readers spend seven days each on the Marian consecration teachings of St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa, and Blessed John Paul II. Then the final five days are for review before reciting the Prayer of Consecration (preferably after receiving Holy Communion). "Because the act of consecrating oneself to Jesus through Mary marks the beginning of a gloriously new day," says Fr. Michael, "a new dawn, a brand new morning in one's spiritual journey. We are taking orders for the book, and we will begin the individual retreat on Sept 4, 2013. Consecration would then be on October 7, Feast of the Most Holy Rosary. For more information please call Eileen Maggiore at 630-396-6076.

Calling all Crafters!

The St. Nicholas Fair will be held on December 7th and 8th in the PLC after all Masses. It will include a craft sale, a bake sale and a raffle of very special items. We have donations of a doll house, an afghan and a pendant designed by Fide Durben of Colorado Springs CO for the raffle. A hooked rug tree skirt is being created. I have kits for ornaments that are ready to be made. Would you like to contribute something for the raffle or for sale at the craft table? Would you like to make ornaments using our kits? Let us know what special items you have to contribute and we can arrange to have them picked up and stored if you like. If you have smaller items, gift cards or gift certificates that we could use in raffle baskets, we would appreciate those also. It is not too early to begin planning for the Holiday Fair! Stewardship of Prayer for Kids

Its hard to believe, but its that time of year: the back to school ads have returned. Although it seems we just threw the book bags in the closet for the summer, its time to dig them out. As August begins, we start thinking about scaling back the bedtime hour and wringing the most out of the last weeks of freedom. For many parents, its a wistful time. Can my baby possibly be in fourth grade? And how could last years gym shoes have grown so tight? But for many parents, a sigh of relief comes along with the school bells first peal. Autumn brings back a welcome routine, a sense of order and discipline that summer lacks. Kids are back on schedule! Christian stewards can take advantage of this return to normal. Make a plan now to take advantage of this new year and incorporate aspects of prayer and awareness of God into your kids new schedule. For example, will you be driving your kids to school? That morning journey can be a great time for a shared morning prayer. Even a walk together to the bus stop can be a time to pause and ask God to bless our day. And perhaps your summer of eating on the fly is being replaced by more established mealtimes. Take advantage of that to begin a new blessing at the evening meal on the very first day of school. Along with thanksgiving for our food, each member of the family could relate one person or one event for which they were particularly grateful during the day. At bedtime, each child can recall with his parent the best part of his day, and what was the most challenging. How was God there through those events? Not only is this a beautiful way to help your child be conscious of the presence of God, its a great way to learn more about your childs experiences. By your own example, show your children that a sense of prayerfulness permeates your day, that life has meaning and purpose when reflected upon, and that the habits ingrained in a schedule can be habits retained for a lifetime. REPORTING SEXUAL ABUSE Anyone who has reasonable cause to suspect the sexual abuse of a minor by a member of the clergy or other Church personnel is urged to report the matter immediately. To inform the Diocese of Joliet, call Mrs. Judith Speckman (Victim Assistance Coordinator) at 815-263-6467 or write the Diocese of Joliet, 425 Summit Street, Joliet 60435. Contact DCFS at 1-800-252-2873 or call the office of the local County States Attorney.

Thank You!
Fr George Knab lead a beautiful and inspiring summer time mission on Rosary Renewal. We began Sunday with a candle light procession to the Mary statue and started with the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. When Mary said Yes, Gods plan of salvation was brought to all of us. We are encouraged to say, Yes. We all need to hear and respond to the Word of God the way Mary listened and responded. On Monday evening, we continued with the Luminous Mysteries, Jesus revealing himself as true God through each meditation. We concluded with candle light prayers and songs. Tuesday evening was an opportunity for reconciliation after we examined our conscience through each Sorrowful Mystery of the Rosary. The climax of the week on Wednesday was the Glorious Mysteries and Mass. The crowning of Mary with recitation of the last 2 decades was awe inspiring. I pray for each one of us to become more engaged disciples through Mary. Thank you also to everyone that helped in a small or big way. Everything you have done to make this Rosary Renewal a success was seen by all. Many of you hosted with the morning discussions, evening preparations, or the childrens program. A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT
The Gospel reading today starts with a question: Lord, will only a few people be saved? Jesus offers only a simple reply: Strive to enter through the narrow gate. Many will try to enter and will not be able. Good stewards know there is only one, narrow gate. Not everything will fit. This narrow gate has no room for our accomplishments. No room for our money. No room for our possessions. No room for anything else but those whove been good stewards of the Gospel. We cant custom build our own gates either. There is only one, narrow gate that happens to be open for a time, but for how long? What is our plan of action to get through that gate?

*As a reminder our GYM and the Parish Life Center can be rented by parishioners or non parishioners for an event. Please call Javier at 630629-1717 for more information.
