Geberit HDPE The Drainage System

Diameters from 32 mm up to 315 mm

Geberit HDPE is the total solution for all types of drainage including above ground, below ground and chemical waste. It provides the appropriate solution for every requirement: whether in residential or industrial construction, for laboratories, conventionally installed or prefabricated, embedded in concrete or underground. Geberit HDPE pipes are tempered. Therefore tensions caused by the manufacturing no longer exist. Subsequent dimensional changes do not occur. The pipes and a wide range of fittings are available in sizes ranging from diameter 32 mm to 315 mm. The variety of fittings and jointing methods ensure ease of installation in any application, allowing innovative design, compatible with any building.

Geberit HDPE: every connection is possible

The butt-weld The simplest space-saving connection is the butt-weld. The connection can either be made by using the welding plate only (up to dimension of 70 mm) or the full set of a welding machine. The electroweld sleeve coupling is the ideal connection on-site, for subsequent changes or wherever access is not easy. The screw-threaded joint is still a favourite detachable connection. The expansion socket has proven itself for compensation of thermal expansion in vertical or horizontal installations.

The ring seal socket Space-saving con nection for pipeline elements or appliances connections that are individually prefabricated.

The flange a connection element for con tainers and appliances.

Geberit HDPE: outstanding material characteristics

The inherent properties of high density polyethylene ensure that Geberit HDPE is a flexible, hard wearing and durable system to suit almost any drainage application.

Quality Severe internal and external controls by independent testing institutes secure perfect quality.

Resistance to extremes of temperature Geberit HDPE can be safely used as waste pipe for temperatures of up to 80C. Temperatures of up to 100C are permissible for short periods (e.g. surges of steam). The system is equally suited for freezing temperatures and adapts elastically to cope with expansion, remaining completely intact and undamaged after thawing.

Licensed Geberit tempering process Geberit HDPE pipes undergo a licensed annealing process in hot water to reduce inherent tensile stresses created during manufacture. This process ensures long-term joint integrity, as thermal expansion and reversion are reduced compared with untreated pipes.

Impact resistance Geberit HDPE is unbreakable at room temperature and offers excellent impact resistance even at temperatures of 40C, thus meeting the requirements for drainage systems.

Chemical resistance Geberit HDPE also offers considerable resistance to chemicals, because of its paraffin structure. The system is insoluble in all inorganic or organic solutions at 20C.

Crush resistance & flexibility The flexibility of Geberit HDPE guarantees crush resistance and superior performance in applications where pipes pass through expansion joints or are subject to traffic vibration.

Resistance to abrasion Drainage systems are increasingly misused for "refuse chutes. Hence a pipes resistance to abrasion is a particularly important factor for branch pipes, soil stacks and ground pipes. HDPE is very resistant to abrasion, its extra thick walls offer superior protection from both internal and external abrasion.

Lightweight Geberit HDPE combines toughness and durability with the advantage of being lightweight.

The processing
Manual butt welding The welding plate is especially suitable for welding dimensions up to 75 mm. Due to its light weight it can easily be used on-site.

Machine butt welding The butt welding machines Media and Universal are for dimensions from 50 160 mm (315 mm respectively). They are especially suitable for prefabrication off site. The light-weight properties of the system allow specifiers and contractors to design and build pipe runs away from a construction site.

Electrowelding The Geberit electrofusion machine is ideal for use on construction site to create a fast, simple and reliable connection. Electroweld sleeve couplings are available from 40 to 315 mm.

The applications
Building drainage Geberit HDPE can be used for installations in apartment buildings, industry and laboratories. The wide range of jointing methods available ensures that Geberit HDPE provides a solution for any drainage application and guarantees that the installation is easy and quick.

Installation in concrete The flexibility, the easy processing and the abrasion resistance of the Geberit HDPE drainage system make it ideal for using the system in concrete.

Underground drainage Like in domestic drainage systems, the choice of the material is also crucial for underground installation. The resistance to abrasion internal and external, as well as the crush resistance and flexibility enable to lay the Geberit HDPE system into the ground.

Geberit Sovent System With Geberit Sovent, venting can be managed easily by using one fitting on each floor level. An additional ventilation pipe like in conventional systems is not necessary anymore.

Conventional ventilated system Each sanitary fitting has to be connected to an additional vent pipe. Compared with the Geberit Sovent system, this means more installation time, more material and larger pipe ducts.

The Geberit Sovent System has proven its performance in over 50000 apartments in high-rise buildings up to 50 floors all over the world.

Sovent fitting

The Geberit Sovent fitting is designed to:

nn prevent the formation of a plug of water in the stack by the lateral water-flow

from the branch

nn mix efficiently the waste flowing in the branches with the water/air-flow in the

stack
nn ensure the venting action to the branch pipes nn limit velocity of both liquid and air in the stack nn avoid the penetration of any splash water or foam into the branches nn offer versatile jointing possibilities in one single fitting
Hydraulic test tower

Performance of the Geberit Sovent System Due to the formation of a hydraulic plug in the stack by the inflowing water from a branch, conventional stacks very easily are overloaded with negative pressures, exceeding the tolerable limits. As a consequence, traps may lose their water seal.

Geberit Pluvia: the effective roof drainage system

What is Geberit Pluvia? The Geberit Pluvia roof drainage system is based on the ingenious gravity-induced vacuum principle. It consists of roof outlets, pipes and fittings made of Geberit HDPE, an engineered fastening system and a professional support package. By syphonic action, Geberit Pluvia allows the complete drainage of a roof without the requirement of a slope in the pipework. Conventional system with: Geberit Pluvia advantages
nn new architectural flexibility nn no slope of pipework required nn less underground pipes nn Iess work on-site nn fewer pipes and fittings nn reduced pipe dimensions nn less space required nn self-cleaning action nn a simple and speedy fastening nn sloped collecting lines nn numerous stack lines nn extensive groundwork

Geberit Pluvia System with: nn horizontal collecting lines

nn few stack lines nn minimal groundwork nn no slope

Geberit Pluvia outlets are developed for all types of roof structures. Due to the different discharge rates of the outlets (12 l/s or 25 l/s) an economical layout of the roof drainage system can be reached. The wide range of contact sheets and accessories allows to connect with every roof material. The Geberit Pluvia outlets can also be transformed into emergency outlets with an additional installation kit.

The Geberit HDPE range of pipes and fittings is the ideal system to meet the requirements of the Pluvia roof drainage system. Due to its outstanding material cha racteristics Geberit HDPE is especially suitable for pre fabrication.

The fastening system The Geberit Pluvia fastening system was developed for the installation of exposed horizontal roof drainage piping. The expansions and contractions of the pipes, that occur after installation, are absorbed by the system itself. For this purpose, all mechanical forces are transmitted to the square steel rail routed parallel to the pipe.

Fastening system features

nn Large spans between beams can be bridged in bay structures. nn Fewer fasteners on roof structres. nn Pre-assembly on the bay floor is possible:

alignment of clamps on the rail, or alignment of clamps and of HDPE pipe on the rail.
nn The clamps are conveniently secured with wedges. nn Only very simple tools are required for the assembly of the system.

Geberit Pluvia: what is behind the success

Geberit Pluvia consulting services The efficiency of the Pluvia system depends on that the pipes fill rapidly and all sections drain equally, so the pipework diameters have to be determined accordingly. The relevant parameters for the specification are rainfall intensity, the dimensions of the building and the roof structure. Each building situation is unique and requires individual planning and calculation. To this end, in order to facilitate accurate implementation, Geberit offers professional advice throughout the planning process. The support includes calculation, layout and design of the drainage system, the calculation software ProPlanner, plus frequent installation training courses for plumbers and sanitary professionals. Applications: Geberit Pluvia is widely used in the industrial and commercial sector for all roofs larger than 1000 m2 (10000 sq. ft), including flat roofs, shed-type or normal pitch roofs, but also dome-shaped and arched roofs with various curvatures. It has facilitated the effective operation of roof construction, notably in projects like
nn factories nn warehouses nn shopping centers nn airports nn hotels nn sport centers
