Ocular Visit: Barangay San Juan My day started cleaning our house and cooking food in preparation for our ocular visit in our barangay in Cainta, Rizal. Our ocular visit was planned during the labor day, it was a holiday therefore there was less ways of transportation and it delayed our visit, we got to meet each other at ten am in the morning. Our meeting location was in Mcdo Valley Golf then we proceeded to our barangay hall. It was a holiday so there was no office that day and we decided to have a little group picture in our barangay hall. After that we went in our actual community which is in our village, Apple Village inside of Valley Golf & Country Club. Our main way of transportation that day was the tricycle. When we got there in our village, the sun was up, it was really hot but still we continued our visit. Our group talked first with the president of the homeowners association in Apple Village. We got a little briefing with some of the village's problems and we toured the village. While touring, I notice that the houses were okay. It was built properly and it is maintained properly. The roads are wide enough that two to three cars can fit. It has enough security for the residents. Also, there's an ongoing construction of a covered court. With all of those strengths for this village, it has its own weak points. I observed that dogs were scattered in the streets, without leashes. There were also a lot of drums, which can be used by the mosquitoes to lay eggs thus more prone to have dengue. A lot of trashes are also outside of their respective houses. Some of the residents hang their trash in a tree outside their gate or just left in the ground for the garbage collectors to collect. In line with the village's problem with their garbage, I decided to make my project proposal out of it. Seeing those trashes that are just disregarded outside their respective houses, it can be solve properly. With those strayed dogs, they can get the trash easily and scatter it in the road. Which is a usual problem for the maids or housewives in this village especially if there's a baby in their house. So, I made a plan to have a right scheduling garbage disposal. Having a right schedule for garbage disposal, is a need in a community. Where the community allows a day in the week to have that as a garbage disposal day. For example it can be held during tuesday. Only every tuesday the residents can put their garbage outside their gates, which is to be collected by the garbage collectors. It can prevent from the dogs to scatter their trash. Also, they need to segregate their trash so that it will be a help to the collectors plus they can earn money from selling the bote, bakal, dyaro. Violators will be fined so that the residents will oblige with it easily.
