THE MOHAWK GROUP, Chicago, Illinois 2003-2011 Sustainability Manager Managed sustainability efforts for a manufacturer of premier woven and tufted roll goods, carpet tile and resilient flooring. Part of Mohawk International a 120-year-old Fortune 500 company and leading supplier of floor coverings. Created and executed curriculum to address training and developmental opportunities for co-workers regarding Mohawks sustainability message. Developed SWOT analysis, point of view on leading sustainability practices, emerging trends, as well as potential legislative and regulatory issues within the commercial flooring market. Provided input to various marketing literature, sales tools, and websites to raise sustainability awareness for Mohawk and drive preference for the company and its products. Managed a multi-functional LEED Plus Calculator which comprised over 700 products, their manufacturing location, components weights, percentages, origin, recycled/bio-based content and their relationship to relevant LEED and other Green Building rating systems. Created solutions for internal and external customers on commercial carpet, hard surface, and selected residential carpets by providing information concerning product questions, ranging from writing specifications, VOC emissions, government contract requirements, NSF, ISO, Green Label Plus certifications, recycled content, and RFI-RFPs. Created and delivered meaningful interactive presentations for national accounts, salespeople, architects, designers and end-users. Collaborated on new continuing education seminars focused on sustainability, while maintaining existing sustainability CEU courses.
