Scenario/Context Both synthesis and sampling are techniques that feature prominently in a large number of contemporary music genres. You have been asked to create a piece of music of around 3 minutes in length that incorporates a variety of synthesis and sampling techniques for a product demo of a modern computer sequencer software package. Tasks
1. Create an original piece of music or produce a cover version using Cubase 5. This piece must incorporate both synthesis and sampling techniques. (P4, M4, D4) Your composition must include: At least two tracks which use the monologue/prologue subtractive synthesiser in Cubase 5. o You must create the sound from scratch yourself and use at least one modulation source (either LFO or Mod Env) (P2, M2, D2) At least one track which makes use of a hardware synthesizer recorded using the line input of the MAudio boxes. o You should design the sound yourself and not use a preset. (P2, M2, D2) At least three sampler tracks o 1 groove agent track o 1 halion 3 track o 1 track which features pre-recorded audio loops You may take your samples from an existing source or you can record the samples yourself.
