Summary
The NX® Mach Series software offers preconfigured solutions targeted to specific product development disciplines and problems.
Siemens also offers many add-on software applications to enhance the functionality of the preconfigured solutions. The add-ons can be
integrated with the NX Mach Series solutions to extend their features and capabilities. The NX Mach Series optional add-on modules
enable customers to configure their solutions to specific requirements with specialized design tools, standard parts applications, design-
integrated simulation solutions, programming and customization toolkits and direct translators.
Human modeling
NX Human Modeling. NX Human Modeling allows designers to create feature models of human
beings and is based on technology provided by Tecnomatix Jack software. These human models can
®
then be used to explore and verify how people interact with product designs. NX Human Modeling
allows users to create human models dynamically or based on standard anthropometric databases or
even using company-specific templates that can be created and then shared between any of the Jack-
based human modeling products.
NX uses segmented faceted bodies in the construction of human models where each faceted body
corresponds to a human body part. Once a human model has been created it can be edited with
standard NX part feature editing techniques.
NX Human Modeling and Human
Modeling Posture Prediction enable
use of biometrically accurate models
to determine how people interact with
product designs.
fact sheet NX
NX Human Modeling Posture Prediction. NX Human Modeling Posture Prediction allows users to position
a model of a human driver, front passenger or rear passenger in a seated position inside an automotive
vehicle. Users specify the position of the hands and feet in a specific location, such as the driver’s hands
and feet touching the steering wheel and brake pedal.
This model predicts an occupant’s hip location, eye locations and arm and leg positions based on the
type of vehicle and the occupant’s hand and foot locations. Both class-A (cars) and class-B (trucks)
vehicles are supported.
Automotive design

Composite Fabric Flattener
NX Composite Fabric Flattener. The NX Composite Fabric Flattener creates flat patterns for woven or
unidirectional fabric materials. It can be used to flatten composite laminate plies, or any materials that
conform to the theoretical models for woven or unidirectional fabrics. The package includes two
solvers that can process multiple surfaces, cut curves, arbitrary or infinite stock (the raw material from
which the final surface is created) and additional curves and points.
BCT PE-Designer. BCT PE Designer is the librarian application for standard feature modules. Similar in
function to the BCT 3D Pool Portal, PE Designer works with features rather than part files. The
license includes 50 families of features freely selectable from the BCT website at www.bct-portal.com.
BCT Machinery Solution. BCT Machinery Solution includes both the BCT 3D Pool Portal and BCT PE-
Designer parts and features library applications, and a selection of 50 families of features from the BCT
website at www.bct-portal.com.
Simulation
NX Strength Wizard. The Strength Wizard provides an easy-to-
use simulation wizard for fast and simple structural/thermal/
vibration analysis for non-experts in structural analysis. This
product brings a new set of simulation possibilities to all users of
the NX product design suite of engineering tools in five quick
and simple steps. This even includes the creation of web-based
reports. At every stage of the simulation process the user is
provided with clear and concise guidance. Based on the finite

control of the user. Meshing is automatic and completely
adaptive to even the most complex model geometry. Once
simulated, simulation confidence levels are graphically presented to users, as part of the wizard based
process, interactively and as part of the web-based project report. This type of virtual product
simulation provides a more cost effective, quick and simple compliment to more expensive physical
prototypes and time consuming product validation.
NX Scenario for Motion +. NX Scenario for Motion + is an integrated, associative and intuitive Motion
environment that has been developed to allow users to quickly predict and optimize the motion
characteristics of design alternatives, or “scenarios” as an intrinsic part of the design process. It provides
an environment to help designers and engineers understand, evaluate and optimize the complex motion
behavior of assemblies and models against functional performance design targets. By providing dynamic
and kinematic simulation model tools, access to the entire suite of NX modeling tools and advanced
simulation modeling tools users can vary model feature parameters and/or create/modify geometry, to
enable the rapid creation of numerous and associative simulation models for performance evaluation.
NX Scenario has been specifically designed to provide confident solutions to critical engineering

the Nastran finite element solver. It has been specifically developed to allow users to quickly predict and
optimize the simulated engineering responses of various design alternatives, or “scenarios” as an intrinsic
part of the design process.
Also integrated into Scenario’s associative structural modeling and solution capability are automated
sizing and parametric shape optimization and fault-tolerant adaptive meshing technologies found in
Nastran. Using the embedded optimization engine, NX Scenario is able to automatically predict the
best geometric and mechanical parameters for a component or assembly based on engineering

Customization/automation
Knowledge Fusion Author. Knowledge Fusion Author is the complete rules-based modeling and
knowledge based engineering (KBE) development and programming kit. Knowledge Fusion is a fully
integrated tool that permits extension of NX by the end user. It is intended for knowledge engineers,
senior designers and programmers. It provides the ability to add any type of engineering rule to a
design, thereby creating smart models that are much more robust and useful, and ensured to be sound
from an engineering standpoint (such as for use in product configurators). Once a smart model or
program has been created, it can be accessed and manipulated (within the bounds of the author’s
intent) in any NX Mach Series application.

Electromechanical integration
NX E/Pak. NX E/Pak is a two-way printed circuit board layout interface that connects most ECAD
printed circuit board systems to NX. The application is oriented for the electrical and mechanical
design sectors for the conversion of information between electronic board/component assemblies and
plastics/mechanical packaging. The end goal is to significantly improve the ease and quality of data
exchange by enabling concurrent design, catching errors early in the design process and decreasing the
time-to-market.
fact sheet NX
As a two-way interface, NX E/Pak assists in the design of both electronic board/component assemblies
and mechanical packaging. Whether accepting new designs from or formatting designs for use within an
ECAD system, NX E/Pak assures continuity between the printed circuit board layout and the UG
assembly. NX E/Pak is developed and supported by Siemens Foundation Partner LTX Software.
NX Schematics. NX Schematics is an integrated 2D schematic layout package for NX. With the
package, users can quickly layout schematic designs, verify their function, add detailed part information
and drive downstream processes. With NX Schematics, users can create place and edit devices, define
the connections between them, modify the properties (attributes) of the devices and connections and
export the connection information and Bill of Materials (BOM) information to other downstream
design applications.
NX Schematics can be used as a standalone application to create the 2D logical design or it can be a
front end to 3D physical design providing a powerful design integration tool, as it permits information
to be passed between the 2D logical layout and the 3D model. Subsequent 3D designs can also be sent
back to NX Schematics for further iteration. NX Schematics can also automatically generate a
schematic based on logical data generated by Routing Electrical or other design tool. NX Schematics is
developed and supported by Siemens Foundation Partner LTX Software.
NX PCB Exchange. NX PCB Exchange provides direct data exchange between printed circuit board
(PCB) layout software and the NX modeling environment. It uses the industry standard IDF data
format to exchange the PC board and component geometry and placement. It can also use a
component database with specifications on thermal loads to build a thermal finite element model
compatible with I-deas® ESC and TMG Thermal Analysis. NX PCB Exchange is developed and
supported by Siemens Foundation Partner MAYA Heat Transfer Technologies Ltd.
