Weekly Devotional
The Bible teaches much about good. There are two meanings. First, as an adjective, good means pleasant (Proverbs 15:23), in full measure (Genesis 30:20), kind and gracious (1 Samuel 25:15). Secondly as a noun, good means primarily God Himself (Mark 10:18). The Bible also speaks of Gods works, gifts, and commands as good. (From Nelsons New Illustrated Bible Dictionary) Romans has 23 references to good. Study the passages that speak about how God sees good.
WE ARE ALL UNDER THE CURSE OF SIN Romans 3:10-20Gods law reveals sin GODS RIGHTEOUSNESS COMES THROUGH FAITH Romans 3:21-31focus on verse 22God declares us righteous through faith, not the law. A Great Day for the Kingdom!

This past Sunday, September 8 was great day for Gods kingdom. Our Fellowship Ministries Team did a great job of setting up the fellowship before worship! The Good News Trio warmed our hearts by bringing us the Word of God in song. The congregation gave $526 in a love offering to the trio also many of you purchased their C.D.s! Grandparents were remembered and honored. Most importantly, God smiled on and favored us as we showed the love of our Lord to many guests. Be commended by your pastor!!

Message from Pastor Reid

Hope Will Get Us Home!
This week we remember the tragic events of 12 years ago September 11, 2001 here on American soil. In a plan outlined by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, approved by Osama Bin Laden, and carried out by 19 high-jackers who used four passenger airliners as missiles, to take the lives of 2,995 people. The victims included 411 emergency responders in New York as the World Trade Centers crumbled. There were other victims at the Pentagon in Washington DC. A band of great American, who stormed the cockpit over rural Pennsylvania and thwarted an attempt to fly an airliner into the US Capital, were also among the victims. The outcry of senseless acts of terror shocked the whole world. While many of us grieved the loss of life, there were others who called for celebration on that fateful day suggesting that Allah favored the horrific acts. I am glad we worship a God who loves us and always works to bring about His good purposes in the world. It is our hope that brightens the dark and challenging chapters in life. Thomas Merton writes, The real hope is not in something we think we can do, but in God, who is making something good out of it in some way we cannot see. Hope can change our perspective in life. Henry Nouwen tells the story of a soldier who was captured as a prisoner of war. He was taken away from his home/family and put in a prison he lost a sense of anything to live for. But unexpectedly he got a letter from home We are waiting for you to come home. All is fine here. Dont worry. Everything instantly seemed different. His circumstances had not changed. He did the same difficult labor on the same meager rations, but now he knew someone waited for his release and homecoming. Hope changed his life! God has written us a love letter the Bible. It reassures of Gods presence now and offers hope that He awaits our release. Keep looking up! Hope will get us home. Pastor Reid
