Eligibility for Admission : Candidates should possess any degree in any discipline of this University or an y other recognized University. Such candidates are eligible for admission into t he bachelor of library and Information Science Programme. Duration of the Programme : Duration of the BLISc Programme is 'One' academic year from the year of Admissi on to the programme. Medium of Instruction : The medium of instruction followed is English and Kannada. Programme structure : The following are the courses to be studied by students who are admitted to BLI Sc programme.

Instructional System : The Instructional methodology used in this University is different from that of the conventional Universities. The Open University system is more learner-orien ted, and is geared to cater to the needs of motivated students assuming that the student is an active participant in the teaching-learning process. Instruction to student is imparted through various modes such as Print, Audio, Video and sup ported by face to face contact programme. The University follows multi-channel approach for instruction. It comprises pro portionate combination of : * Printed Self-instructional Material Audio and Video cassettes * Audio-video C.D

Study Materials: University will supply Study Materials for the students in the pattern of Self Learning Materials (SLMs). The Study Materials will be in English and Kannada me dium. Each course is divided into 6 Blocks. Further, Blocks are subdivided into 2 to 6 Units. The students will receive 35 Blocks for the entire programme. Credit System General BLISc is a Credit Based Programme. A weightage of Forty-eight credits are give n for Eight Courses. The University follows the 'Credit system' for its BLISc pr ogramme. Each Credit is of 30 hours of study comprising of all learning activiti es. Thus, a three credit course involves 90 study hours, a six credit course inv olves 180 study hours and so on. This helps the students to understand the acade mic efforts she/ he has to put in order to successfully complete the programme. Personal Contact Programme (PCP): University conducts Personal Contact Programmes at various Centres. Students sh ould attend the PCP at the centre to which they are directed to attend. Students can have more information on PCP form the Coordinator, Library and Information Science Department of the University. During the Personal Contact Programme, Lec tures will be delivered by the reputed Academicians working in various Universit ies and Libraries. Participation in the Contact programme is COMPULSORY. Student s who do not attend PCP, will not be allowed to register for the Final Examinati on.
