Measures that can be used to instill critical thinking skills in nurse prescribers

Critical thinking is an invaluable skill that differentiates the proficient practitioner from the less capable practitioner. Nurse educators are in a prime position to develop these skills in nurses and nurse prescribers. Teaching Effectiveness, Availability, Accessibility, and Use of Library and Information Resources Among Teaching Staff of Schools of Nursing
Libraries provide resources for knowledge acquisition, recreation, personal interests and inter-personal relationships for all categories of users. However in an academic environment, attention is basically focused on academic and non-academic staff, students and researchers. The philosophy of librarianship is based on the concept of library services and provision of relevant resources for users. To this end, Professional Librarians continue to strive to collect, store, organize and disseminate all forms of recorded knowledge in order to satisfy both present and future information needs of users. Library resources are the stock in trade of librarians. These are the materials in the library make services possible. They are the materials which the users come to consult, read or borrow. Library resources are many and varied, but they can be divided into two broad categories namely printed and non-printed materials. The printed materials are books, pamphlets periodicals, newspapers and reference resources.

Non-printed materials are however, often referred to as audio-visual resources. They are the product of advanced technology, some of which require special equipment to operate. Nonprinted resources can be grouped into three (i.e. Audio, visual and audio-visual). We also have

Despite the education challenges faced by healthcare institutions, the use of online technology (eLearning) to demonstrate competency for practicing nurses in the acute care environment has only recently been explored. The authors discuss the implementation of an online-based nursing education competency. The results demonstrate that the use of the eLearning format provides both a satisfactory and effective alternative learning medium. The study provides support for the use of online learning in the healthcare setting. One alternative to the traditional lecture format is the use of online technology in continuing nursing education, also known as eLearning. Technology has revolutionized educators' ability to facilitate professional nursing competence through the use of online education. Use of eLearning to provide continuing nursing education has many benefits, including user convenience, program design flexibility, adherence to adult learning principles, and accommodation of multiple learning styles. The remainder of this article will discuss the implementation of an online nursing education competency. Specifically, the online competency focused on the nursing care of the kidney transplant recipient. The purpose of this article is to examine the satisfaction and perception of learning on practicing nurses in the online environment.
