4. Flip the lter duct upside down so the lter is now visible. The lter lifts straight up.
1. Open the hood, locate the cabin air lter duct clamp facing outward
5. Remove and replace with a clean cabin lter. Flip over and replace the duct and reattach the clamp. 2. Release the cabin air lter duct clamp by depressing the lock, then lift the cover upward.

1. Locate the cabin air lter panel under the glove compartment on the passenger side. Remove three screws.
5. Replace with a clean cabin lter.
2. Disengage three tabs to release panel from housing. Remove panel by sliding away from the mounting and pulling downward.
6. Reconnect plug connections and slide panel back in place, making sure guides on bottom of panel are seated in the mounting, until the tabs snap back. Replace screw.

Replace with a clean cabin lter. Make sure the air ow arrow is pointed towards the center of the vehicle. Reposition the door and slide into place.

1. The access door for the cabin lter is located under the dashboard on the passenger side.
2. Unlock the lter door by pulling the slide bar toward you until it drops down. Remove the door.

4. Remove lter frame

1. Tools needed are a Phillips screw driver and a standard screw driver. Stop the windshield wipers in the up position and open the hood.
5. Remove dirty lter from frame and replace with clean cabin lter. Replace frame in housing and fasten clip. Replace weather stripping, screws and screw caps. Close hood.
2. Remove the 3 (three) screw caps from the left, middle and right side of passenger cowl cover. Remove the screws and the weather stripping.

4. Lift the lter from the housing and replace it with a clean cabin lter. Reinsert the rain shield, matching 3 (three) clips on top of shield to indentations in top of sheet metal and reattach cover plate.
1. Tools needed are a Phillips screwdriver and a standard screwdriver. Open hood and on the passenger side of the cowl is the cover plate for the cabin lter. Remove 4 (four) caps from windshield side of cover plate.
2. Remove 4 (four) screws and the ttings from opposite side of cover plate. Remove cover plate.

4. Replace with a clean cabin lter making sure the arrows on the lter are facing up. Reclip front of housing in place and replace the cowl cover.
1. Tools needed are a Phillips screw driver and a standard screw driver. Stop the windshield wipers in the up position and open the hood.
2. Remove the cap on screw in center of cowl cover. Unscrew halfway and pull out tting. Unsnap 3 (three) clips on front edge of cover and remove cover.

Some vehicles have a rain shield positioned over the lter. Remove if present. Remove dirty lter and replace with a clean cabin lter. Replace rain shield, cowl cover and reclip vacuum hose. Rehook clip on passenger side cowl cover and close hood.

4. Push the lter down until it is rmly sitting in the housing. Reattach the cover.
1. Open the hood. The cover for the cabin lter is located on the passenger side of the cowl. Unsnap cover and remove.

1. Tools needed are a Phillips screwdriver. Turn off the ignition switch. 2. Locate the cabin air lter compartment access cover under the passenger side dashboard. Carefully remove the 5 (ve) screws holding the lter compartment access cover. Use caution to avoid damage to the access cover or loss of the screws. 3. Remove the lter compartment access cover. Slide the lter element out of the compartment by the tab in the center of the lter. 4. Replace with a clean cabin lter and reinstall the compartment access cover.

Lincoln: install the passenger side cowl cover. Ensure all the retainers are properly attached. Close the hood. Jaguar: install the cowl grill. Ensure all the screws and retainers are properly secured. Position windshield wiper arms to the pivots, then install the retaining nuts and close the covers. Close the hood.
1. Tools needed are a Phillips screwdriver and a standard screwdriver. Stop windshield wipers in up position. Thunderbird: open hood and remove left and right cowl trim pieces, wiper arm nut covers, then the nuts and wiper arms. Remove the pin type retainers attaching the cowl cover to the cowl. Lincoln: open hood. Jaguar: open hood and remove windshield arm nut covers. Remove windshield wiper arm retaining nuts, then remove the wiper arms using a suitable windshield wiper arm puller. 2. For Thunderbird, go to step 3. Lincoln: remove the pin type retainers attaching the passenger side cowl cover to the cowl. Detach the rubber hinge cover from rear outer corner of the passenger side cowl cover. Pull up on the passenger side cowl cover to release the lower retaining clips, then remove the cover. Jaguar: remove the cowl grille screw covers. Remove the cowl grille screws and retainers, then remove the cowl grille. 3. Thunderbird and Lincoln: release the right hand corner of the cabin air lter, by pushing on the retaining clips. Release the left hand corner of the cabin air lter, then lift the lter from the cowl

1. Tools needed are a standard screwdriver and a windshield wiper arm puller. Open the hood 2. Remove the windshield wiper arm nut covers. Remove the windshield wiper arm retaining nuts, then remove the wiper arms using a suitable windshield wiper arm puller. Remove the cowl grille screw covers, screws, and retainers, then remove the cowl grille. Open the cabin lter cover and remove the lter. 3. Install a new cabin lter, ensuring the air marking is facing in the proper direction. 4. Close the cabin lter cover and install the cowl grille. Ensure all the screws and retainers are properly secured. Position the windshield wiper arms to the pivots, then install the retaining nuts and close the covers. 5. Close the hood.

1. Tools needed are a standard screwdriver and a windshield wiper arm puller. Open the hood. 2. Remove the windshield wiper arm nut covers. Remove the windshield wiper arm retaining nuts, then remove the wiper arms using a suitable windshield wiper arm puller. Disengage the cowl grille retainers, then remove the cowl grille. Remove the cabin lter from the cowl grille opening. 3. Install a new cabin lter, ensuring the air ow marking is facing in the proper direction. 4. Install the cowl grille, ensuring all the retainers are properly attached. Position the windshield wiper arms to the pivots, then install the retaining nuts and close the covers. 5. Close the hood.

2. Remove weather stripping from passenger side of cowl. Remove passenger side cowl cover by unscrewing Phillips screw on far left. Snap out the cover.

There is a label on this panel denoting it as the access to the cabin air lter. 3. Remove the 2 (two) screws in the panel and take off the cover. 4. The cabin lter is now visible. Remove and replace with a clean cabin lter. 5. Replace the access panel and ret the screws. Close the hood.

2. Under the glove compartment is a kick plate cover held in place by four screws. Remove the screws and take off cover.

Seville and Park Avenue: Remove the cabin air lter access cover from the A/C and heater module. For Park Avenue models since 2000, pull the cabin air lter access cover down and then out to remove from the A/C and heater module. 3. Seville and Park Avenue: Remove the tape, then pull out the rst cabin lter element using the lter tab. Remove the tape, then pull out the second cabin lter element using the lter tab. Remove the tape, then pull out the third cabin air lter element using the lter tab. 4. Seville and Park Avenue: To ease installation, lubricate the new lter guides with silicon spray. Install the rst clean cabin lter into the case using a long thin blade screw driver and lter tab. Raise the lter until it is parallel with the A/C and heater module. Ensure the leading edge of the lter engages the lter case holding rib. Engage the new second cabin lter in the tab of the rst lter. Slide the second lter into the remaining channels of the rst lter. Using the lter tab, raise the lter until it is
Note the location of the left sound insulator fasteners so they can be installed at the same positions. Improper installation of the fasteners may result in brake or accelerator pedal binding. SIR system wiring and components are located in this area, use extreme caution.

1. Park Avenue: Place the ignition switch in the off position, remove the supplemental inatable restraint fuse from the underhood fuse panel. Remove the left sound insulator fasteners. Disconnect the left
parallel with the A/C and heater module. Ensure the leading edge of the lter engages the lter case holding rib. Engage the third new cabin lter in the tab of the second lter. Slide the third lter into the remaining channels of the second lter. Fold the tab of the second lter down. Fold the tab of the third lter up and over the second lter. 5. Seville and Park Avenue: Install the A/C and heater module lter cover. Ensure cover is properly seated. For Seville, position the shift cable grommet. Position the left sound insulator to the instrument panel, then connect the electrical connectors. Install the left sound insulator fasteners. Torque the fasteners to 18 inch lbs. (Seville), 17 inch lbs. (Park Avenue). Be sure to install the fasteners in the proper locations. Install the SIR fuse. From a position off to the side of the air bag module, place the ignition switch in the on position. The air bag warning lamp should ash 7 times and then turn off. Place the ignition switch in the off position.
sound insulator electrical connectors, then remove the insulator. Seville: Place the ignition switch in the off position, remove the supplemental inatable restraint fuse from the rear fuse panel. On 1997 models, the rear fuse panel is located in the luggage compartment. On the 1998-2003 models, the rear fuse panel is located under the rear seat. Remove the two retaining screws from the rear edge of the left sound insulator. Push in on the snap tabs to release the insulator. Disconnect the left sound insulator electrical connectors, then remove the insulator. Twist the shift cable grommet ad position away from the cabin air lter access door. It may be necessary to cut the tie strap and peel back the foam insulation to position the grommet away from the door.

2. Remove the lter cover by lifting up on the two levers on the top edge of the cover.

1. Open glove compartment. Disconnect on right side of glove compartment by unhooking stop.
2. Push in on top of glove compartment on both right and left sides. This should unhook the top of the glove compartment from the dash. Allow glove compartment to hang down.

4. Remove remaining two screws on either side of metal bar. Remove bar. The access door to the lters is now visible. Pull up on access door to release and remove.
1. Tools needed are a standard and a Phillips screw driver. Open glove compartment. Remove two locking tabs from either side of compartment. Remove three screws on left, center and right of compartment. Close compartment.
5. Pull out lter in housing and slide second into opening to remove. Replace with clean cabin lters. Reverse steps to complete lter changeout. 2. Remove access panel from right side of compartment. Remove two screws under access panel. Remove access panel in center of console under radio. Remove screw on right side under this panel.

the rst lter and frame. Slide the second lter and frame to the left and pull out.

Detach the wiring harness from the evaporator housing clamps. Remove the lter cover from the evaporator housing. Remove the cabin lter and the element from the lter housing and replace with a new cabin lter. Ensure the lter element and lter housing arrow markings are facing in the same direction. Install the cabin lter into the evaporator housing.

1. Tools needed are a standard and a Phillips screw driver. Open glove compartment. Remove the stops located at each side of the glove compartment. Remove the two bolts securing the glove compartment to the instrument panel; remove the instrument panel right lower cover retaining screw, then the cover. 4. Install the evaporator housing lter cover. Ensure the lter cover is securely seated. Attach the wiring harness to the evaporator housing clamps. Position the glove compartment frame and knee bolster to the instrument panel, install the attaching bolts. Install the stops at each side of the glove compartment.
2. Remove the glove compartment frame retaining screws. Remove the glove compartment frame with the knee bolster.

4. Remove the lter cover from the evaporator housing. Remove the cabin lter from the evaporator housing and install a new cabin lter. Install the evaporator housing lter cover. Ensure the lter covers securely seated. Position the glove compartment frame, then install the attaching bolts and screws.
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery ground cable. After disconnecting the battery ground cable wait at least 3 minutes to allow the air bag system backup power capacitor to discharge. Remove the stops located at each side of the glove compartment.
5. Install the stops at each side of the glove compartment. Connect the battery ground cable. Ensure no air leaks are present a the evaporator cabin lter cover. 2. Remove the two bolts securing the glove compartment to the instrument panel. Using suitable diagonal cutters, cut the plastic cross brace located at the glove compartment opening at each end, then discard the plastic brace.

Install the cabin air lter cover, ensuring the cover is properly installed. XG: Remove the cabin air lter cover, remove the lter from the blower unit opening. Install a new cabin lter, ensuring air ow marking is facing in the proper direction. Install the cabin air lter cover, ensuring the cover is properly installed. Install blower unit under cover. Connect the luggage compartment lamp electrical connector.

1. Open glove compartment. Remove the glove compartment stop, then lower the glove compartment. 2. Remove the cover mounting brackets in the glove compartment. Remove the cabin air lter cover. 3. Remove the cabin air lter form the blower unit. Install a new cabin lter, ensuring air ow marking is facing in the proper direction. Install the cabin air lter cover, ensuring the cover is properly installed. 4. Install the cover mounting brackets. Position the glove compartment to the instrument panel, install the two glove compartment attaching bolts and two attaching screws. Lift the glove compartment into position and install the stop. Close the glove compartment.

1. Tools needed are a Phillips screw driver. Open hood and pull up cowl seal. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the main air ap actuators. Lift up the air plenum housing. 2. Turn the windshield heating thermovalve counterclockwise to disengage. Lift the outside temperature sensor upward and position out of the way. Remove the air plenum housing. 3. Remove the cabin lter from the lter housing. Install a new cabin lter, ensuring the lter is properly positioned in the housing. Install the air plenum housing. Install the outside temperature sensor. 4. Engage the windshield heating thermovalve clockwise. Connect the vacuum hoses to the main air ap actuators. Install the cowl seat. Close the hood.

1. Tools needed are a Phillips screw driver. Open hood and remove two screws on top of the lter housing. 2. Pull up the rubber sealing strip behind the lter housing. 3. Detach the three retaining clips on the side of housing facing the front of vehicle. Remove the housing cover. 4. Remove the lter from the housing and replace with a clean cabin lter. Replace the housing cover and relock the clips. Replace the screws in the top of the housing and install the rubber sealing strips.

Lift off the foam block and lift up the front edge of the cover so that the hood and clip release on the rear edge. Fold back the corner tab. Fold up the cover halfway.

1. Tools needed are a screw driver. Set the wipers in the upright position. Open the hood. Dismantle the covers right hand clips. Remove the clip on the corner tab to the windscreen corner. 3. Fold up the clips from the lter holder. Remove the cabin lter. Lift up the drainage hose and clean it. Fit the drainage hose and insert a new cabin lter. The new lter should be tted with the arrows directed in towards the car.
4. Fold back the holders clips. Fold down the cover. Fit the corner tab under the windscreen moulding. Insert the hook under the windscreen and press down the cover so that the clips lock. Fit the clip to the corner tab to the windscreen corner. Lift up the foam block and t the clip. Fit the rear main seal. Check the operation of the wipers. Close the hood.

4. Remove lter from frame by pinching the lter into a bow-tie shape.
1. Tools needed are a Phillips screwdriver. Open the glove box. Remove screw from glove box stop located on the right side of the glove box. Allow box to hand down. The white lter frame behind the glove box will now be visible. 5. Replace with a clean cabin air lter in the same manner making sure that each side of the lter is properly positioned under the lter frame tabs located on the right and left sides of the lter frame.
2. Move the wire harness to the left. The wire harness is located on the left side of the lter frame.
6. Replace frame in dash and reposition wire harness. Reconnect glove box stop by replacing screw.

Remove the housing holding the lter by pulling both tabs located at each side of the case. For Echo, release two retaining clips securing lter housing to A/C units and remove the lter housing. 3. Remove the cabin lter from the housing. Replace with a clean cabin lter. Reverse the procedure of removing the lter case for its installation.

Position the glove compartment to the instrument panel, then install the attaching screws. RX: Install a new cabin lter into the lter housing. Through the glove compartment cover opening, install cabin air lter housing, then the lter cover. Ensure the cover is properly seated. 4. Highlander: Install the lter housing into the lter outlet. Install the lter cover. Push inward at each side of the glove compartment door, then raise the door into place. Close the glove compartment door. Install the screw retaining the eyelet clip. GS: Close the glove compartment door, then install the two attaching bolts. Connect the battery ground cable.

RX: Install the glove compartment rear cover. Close the glove compartment.
1. Highlander: Remove the screw retaining the eyelet clip. Open the glove compartment door. GS: Disconnect and isolate the battery ground cable. After disconnecting the battery ground cable, wait at least 90 seconds to allow the air bag system backup power discharge. Remove the bolts attaching the glove compartment to the instrument panel. Airbag system components are located in this area, use extreme caution. Open the glove compartment door. RX: Open the glove compartment. Remove the cover from the rear of the glove compartment. 2. Highlander: Push inward at each side of the glove compartment door to disengage the retainers, then lower the door. Through the glove compartment opening, remove the lter cover from the lter outlet. Pull the cabin lter housing from the lter outlet. Remove the cabin lter element from the lter housing. GS: Remove the three glove compartment retaining screws, then the glove compartment. Remove the lter cover, then the lter element. RX: Through the glove compartment cover opening, disengage the lter cover retainers, then remove the cover and cabin air lter housing. Remove the cabin air lter from the lter housing. 3. Highlander: Install a new cabin lter element into the lter outlet. Ensure the lter element is properly positioned in the lter housing. GS: Replace with a clean cabin lter. Install the cabin air lter cover.

1. Tools needed are a Phillips screwdriver. Open the hood. Notice the cover for the cabin lter is on the cowl on the passenger side. Remove the screw form the cover. 2. Remove the cover by pulling toward the front of the vehicle. The lter is now visible. 3. Remove by pushing up on the lter to loosen from housing and then pulling out toward the front of the vehicle. 4. Replace with clean cabin lter. Replace cover by lining up the notches on either side of the cover plate to the grooves in the lter housing. Replace the screw in the cover plate.

1. Open hood. 2. Locate lter housing on underside of hood. Press in quick lock retainer and turn 90 degrees. 3. Remove the cabin lter by pulling it straight down. Install a new cabin lter. 4. Replace housing. Press in quick lock retainer and turn.

1. Tools needed are a Phillips screwdriver. Open the hood. Remove weather stripping form the passenger side. Remove four screws from the cabin lter cover.
4. Make sure to line up the four notches on the top side of the lter with the ribs on the top housing plate. Replace lter and top housing plate by sliding into place and pushing down until the two tabs click into place. Reattach cover.
2. Remove cover by pulling towards front of vehicle.

Replace cover and reinsert the screws. Replace footwell trim.
