HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY DARTS ORGANISATION

BEDFORDSHIRE V HERTFORDSHIRE 6th-7th SEPTEMBER 2013

The first game of any season always throws up problems with players on holidays or they are not available, this game was no different with Tony Tarry not available so Dan Mitchell was promoted into the A team for Sunday. On Saturday with Dan Mitchells promotion we also had another three players dropping out of the team they were replaced by Lee Marlow, Tony Cox, Jason Sutton and Daniel Wood. Also a thank you to Jason Neville who took over Captain for the B team well done and to our Chairman Derek Bayliss who took the responsibility on Sunday also well done. It was also two very good wins by the teams over the weekend with the Ladies also doing well it was a nice 26+3 29-10 overall win. On Saturday the Ladies had a very good 6-0 win to give the Men a great start. On first was debutant Lee Marlow winning the first leg he found himself 2-1 down overcoming the nerves he had two very good last legs of 19-18 to win 3-2 over former Hertfordshire player Wayne Gower. Second was Wayne Dawson playing another ex Hertfordshire player Joe Solano, Wayne played well to come out winning 3-0. Next was Tony Cox also a debutant, Tony lost 2-3 in a game he should have won against another ex Hertfordshire player Frank Raleigh but those winning doubles eluded him. John Creed was next having one of those games he would like to forget but he stuck to the task for a 3-1 win Jason Sutton was another debutant who had a very good game to win 3-1. Lee White made a return to the team and it showed with 3-0 win. David Pinnuck was one of the unlucky losers with double trouble which caused him to lose 2-3. Lee Purkis was next with a mixture of good and bad legs but ended up winning 3-1. Next was the skygo expert Gary Ewington who had an excellent game to win with winning legs of 15-28-18 for a 3-0 win and gaining the Match Award with a 24.64 average, well done Gary. This was followed by James Donnelly playing another ex Hertfordshire Colin Essam and it did not look good as James went 2-0 down but he fought back with a 16 dart final leg to win 3-2. Daniel Wood was also making his debut he played well but it looked like a case of nerves taking over as he lost 1-3. Eron Walkes was last player on after all the waiting it did not look good as he lost the first leg but a steady performance from Eron in the next three legs gave him a 3-1 win and the team a 9-3 winning result. On Sunday with the Ladies drawing 3-3 it was 18-6 overall lead with the Mens A team to play, On first in the best of seven leg games was David Meader not up to his usual standard, after being 0-3 down he won the next two but another loss meant a 2-4 defeat. John Blair was next 2-0 in front he lost the third leg but won the next two for a 4-1 win. Mark Elliot was next on winning the first leg with a 108 finish he was soon 1-2 behind but three decent legs gave him a 4-1 win. Robin Wigg was next 2-0 in front he allowed his opponent to draw level but came back with another two legs to give him a 4-2 win. Next on was Adam Pinnuck who did not have the best of games against there man of the match although he won the fourth leg he ended up losing 1-4. Jason Neville followed by winning the first two legs before losing the third but another two winning legs gave Jason a 4-1 win. Cont;

Lee Searles was next having a very good game after finding himself 0-2 behind he fought back well to lead 3-2 he just could not finish in the last two legs when the opportunity was there to end up losing 3-4. Steve Hartley did not have one of his better games apart from having chances in the first leg which he did not take and winning the next he ended up losing 1-4. This meant that the scores were now level at 4-4. But with four Rye Park players to come anything could have happened first was Ian Clarkson who lost the first leg, with a little bit of concentration he played well to come out winning 4-1. Next was promoted Dan Mitchell who also lost the first leg but gave a steady performance to win 4-1. Then it was the best game of the day as Martin Kingsley who had patiently waited to play took to the oche and proceeded to play the best darts of the day with legs of 19-18(L)-17-20-17 to win 4-1 and a 26.91 average to win the Match Award. Well played Martin. After waiting which seemed to like an eternity last player David Mansfield was playing and he seemed to keep us waiting even with an excellent game to win 4-2 which gave the team an 8-4 win. With the Mens Team gaining 17 points and the Ladies 9 points plus 3 bonus points it gave us the 29-10 overall win and a good start to the season.
