You are provided with: Solution B3, ammonium iron (II) sulphate of unknown concentration. Solution B4, 0.0192M potassium manganate (VII)

You are required to determine: (i) The molarity of the ammonium iron (II) sulphate. (ii) The amount of water of crystallization X in the ammonium Iron (II) sulphate. (iii) The formula mass of Hydrated ammonium Iron (II) sulphate PROCEDURE The ammonium Iron (II) sulphate (NH4)2SO4.FeSO4. XH2O, solution B3 provided, was made by dissolving 8.5g of the salt in 50cm3 of dilute sulphuric acid then making the solution to 250cm3 using distilled water. Fill the burette with solution B4. Pipette 25cm3 of solution B3 into a clean and dry conical flask. Titrate B3 against B4 until the solution turns pink. Repeat the titration twice and enter your results in the table below. In this experiment you are required to determine the molar heat of neutralization of hydrochloric acid solution C2 reacting with sodium Hydroxide solution, C3. Note: C3 is corrosive and must be handled with care PREOCEDURE. Measure 40cm3 of 2M Hydrochloric acid solution C2 accurately using a graduated measuring cylinder pour the solution into the beaker labelled Z. Record accurately the steady temperature T1 of the acid. Now measure 24cm3 of 4M sodium hydroxide solution C3 and dilute to 40cm3 with water. Record the steady temperature T2 of the resulting solution in the table below. Add this solution to the hydrochloric acid in the container carefully while stirring with a thermometer and record the highest steady temperature T4 of the mixture. Repeat the above procedure with dilute solution of sodium hydroxide C3 as outlined in the table below. In each case record the temperature T1 of the sodium Hydroxide C3 just before reaching it with the acid and the highest temperature T4 of the mixture. The temperature of the acid should be read only once and should be assumed constant throughout the experiment. The rise in temperature should be calculated using the expression:
T1 + T2 Rise in temperature; T = T4 2
