Challenge: Providing Customers Better Visibility, Insight and Control in their Supply Chains
With the current economic and political turmoil, companies have faced a dual challenge: externally, market conditions are riskier and more unpredictable, requiring rapid response and nimble planning cycles. Internally, supply chains are lengthier and more complex, making improvements difficult. Add to this the ever growing volume of data generated from various enterprise applications, market sources, suppliers, customers and the web and you have a perfect storm in the supply chain. Not only is it important to react quickly to events and market changes but companies also needs to decide with more confidence, conduct root-cause analysis, perform simulations and what-ifs and benchmark their performance against the industry. Being the market leader in the Supply Chain area, SAP customers were naturally looking to us to provide a solution that helped them address these challenges.

Solution: A SCOR based Performance Management Driven Approach to Supply Chain

SAP has taken a unique approach towards providing a more holistic view of the extended Supply Chain. It has combined three fundamental elements into one solution: the industry standard Supply Chain Operations (SCOR) model, its role based performance management framework and proven best in class business analytics. SAP BusinessObjects Supply Chain Performance Management (SCPM), one of the SAP BusinessObjects enterprise performance management (EPM) solutions, provides end-to-end supply chain visibility to enable both departmental and organizational performance management. In addition, it is designed with prepackaged workflows, metrics and analytics to enable rapid time-to-value. SCPM is able to not just tightly integrate with the overall business processes across the supply chain but it also uses standard metrics frameworks that support the organizations overall goals and enables benchmarking within the industry. In addition, it leverages technology that can build upon existing investments and enable self-service for supply chain departments.

Outcome: Customers Get Comprehensive Analytics to Measure and Manage their Supply Chain
Launched in 2010, the SAP BusinessObjects Supply Chain Performance Management has had great success with SAP customers across the globe like Coca-Cola, Ulker (Turkey), GNCH (Colombia) and K+S (Germany). SCPM has pre-built connectors to SAP rd data sources (like SAP ERP) and ability to integrate with 3 party applications and data sources, enabling short implementation cycles. Since SCPM is based on the SCOR model, companies are able to leverage standard definitions and compare and benchmark against other companies. This helps companies in getting a jump-start by starting with their business priorities, identifying the applicable SCOR metrics and quickly translating those into role based metrics, KPIs, dashboards and reports. Not only have SAP customers benefited by having more agile supply chains and responding quickly to business challenges they have also been able to implement this software in very quickly and with relatively modest investments.
