Supplement to Charter DVR User Guide Version: 1.0 October 2004

New Features on Your Charter DVR
While youve been watching TV, weve been working on new features and functionality for your SA DVR. No one has to come install these new features you get them all automatically in fact, all these features are available now:

New Episode Recording Enhancements

Choose to record only first-run episodes or episodes that appear at a certain time. When you choose the All Episodes recording option on the Confirm Recording screen, you are given the choice to record: all episodes during a specific time slot on a specific channel (including reruns) all episodes at all times on a specific channel (including reruns) first-run episodes only on a specific channel

Copy to VCR
You can now save any recorded program to a tape on your VCR even while youre watching or recording another channel! Connect your VCR inputs to ports on the back of the set-top labeled, OUT 2 (VCR). Turn the VCR on and insert a tape. Press LIST to bring up your list of recorded programs. Highlight the program you want to copy to your VCR, then press SEL. Highlight Copy to VCR and press SEL again.

Recording Space Used Indicator

You can now see how much recording space is available for new recordings. Press LIST to bring up your list of recorded programs. Press the B key on your remote to pull up your Preferences menu. Highlight the Recording space used option.

Auto Erase Oldest Recordings Option

Now you can make sure you have room on your hard drive for new recordings by automatically erasing your oldest recordings when the space is needed. Press LIST to bring up your list of recorded programs. Press the B key on your remote to pull up your Preferences menu. Highlight Turn ON Auto Erase, then press SEL. Press the A key on your remote to confirm your choice.
Note: Recordings with a save time of Until I erase will not be erased until you manually erase them.

Auto Erase is OFF.
Press if you want your oldest recordings automatically erased to make space for new ones.

Power-Save Mode
During the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., your set-top will automatically enter power-save mode. At approximately 1:10 a.m., a five-minute warning banner will appear indicating the set-top is about to enter the power-save mode. In the power-save mode, the set-top is powered-down, but all programs scheduled to be recorded will still be recorded. To allow the set-top to enter power-save mode, do nothing when the warning banner appears the set-top will automatically power-down. To stop the set-top from entering power-save mode, simply press any key on your remote when the warning banner appears. From 1:10 a.m. until 6 a.m., the DVR presents the warning banner after every 2 hours of inactivity (no remote control presses). The only time you may see the power-down warning banner is between 1:10 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. When the set-top enters power-save mode your TV will display a black screen. To resume watching TV, press CBL and POWER on your remote.
