PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 GENERAL A. Provide constant and variable speed motors, as noted in the schedule on the drawings, with motor sizes, in all cases, selected to be non-overloading over the entire performance range of the pump. The pump's brake horsepower at design speed may not, under any condition, exceed the nominal motor horsepower. Select the pumps to operate at or near their point of peak efficiency, thus allowing for operation at capacities of approximately 25% beyond design capacity. In addition, select the design impeller diameter so that the design capacity of each pump will not exceed 90% of the capacity obtainable with maximum impeller diameter at the design speed. The pump curve must be continuously rising from maximum capacity to the shut-off point. Hydrostatically test all pump casings at 1-1/2 times the design working pressure. Factory test all pumps at their rated speed, head, capacity, efficiency and brake horsepower, and at such conditions of head and capacity to properly establish the performance curve. Submit certified copies of the test report.

A. Single stage, centrifugal pump with motor, volute type, single suction in-line, fully bronze fitted, radially split case design, oil lubricated bearings with a flexible coupling connecting the motor and pump shafts. B. Casing construction: cast iron with companion flanged piping connections. C. Impeller: statically and dynamically balanced, closed, fabricated from cast bronze. Impeller removable without disturbing pipe connections. D. Pump shaft bearings: oil lubricated sleeve bearings. E. Pump shaft: ground and polished steel, with bronze sleeve. F. Seals: mechanical seals. 2.6 MAINTENANCE MATERIAL A. Furnish spare parts for each pump as follows: Set of two mechanical seals/pumps Set of two bearings/pumps Set of casing gaskets/pumps (number as required) PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSPECTION A. Examine area and condition under which centrifugal pumps are to be installed. Notify the Engineer in writing of conditions detrimental to proper completion of the work. Do not proceed with the work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2

INSTALLATION A. Furnish and install centrifugal pumps of the types, sizes, capacities, and arrangements indicated on the drawings and specified herein. B. Assemble flexibly coupled pumps with their motor drivers on heavy duty fabricated structural steel baseplates, which include sheet metal coupling guards and drain troughs with tapped drain connection piped to waste. Coordinate drain piping routing and requirements with other trades. C. Install base-mounted pumps on concrete foundations. For flexibly coupled pumps, support the pump base plate on tapered steel wedges to provide a gap of 20mm to 40mm under baseplate for non-shrink grout. Adjust the wedges until the shafts of the pump and motor are level. Grout the base to the concrete foundation with non-shrink grouts tighten the foundation bolts and after the grout has set, align the pump and motor shafts. After alignment is correct, fill the base plate completely with nonshrink grout, and pitch to drain. After the grout has cured, fully tighten the foundation bolts. D. The pumps are to be aligned in the field utilizing a dial indicator. Alignment accuracy must be plus or minus .05mm or the more stringent requirements of the manufacturer.
