Abstract
The present work is to investigate the physicochemical and biological properties of true bone ceramic coated with calcium
phosphate/Danshen compound, and offer an ideal scaffold material for bone tissue engineering. In the study, surface coated true
bone ceramic were obtained by fully mixed with Calcium phosphate/Danshen compound and sucked under negative pressure.
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) were employed to
study the coated composition. The scaffold was co-cultured with osteoblast derived from bone marrow stromal cells, alkaline
phosphatase (ALP) activity at 2, 4, 6 and 8 days of cultivation were measured. The results indicated that there was no obvious
change in ingredient and Ca/P ratio of surface coated true bone ceramic, and the natural three-dimensional porous structure was
remained. The ALP activity was higher in the surface coated group than in the control group, indicated that the surface coated true
bone ceramic significantly promoted cells adhesion, proliferation and secretion. Therefore, bioactivity of true bone ceramic was
increased by the surface coating of calcium phosphate/Danshen compound, such coating composition with seed cells is an ideal
material for bone repair.
