1. Tujuan Mata Kuliah Pada akhir semester mahasiswa dapat: a. mengerti ceramah kuliah berbahasa Inggris dan dapat membuat catatancatatan yang diperlukan sehingga dapat menceriterakan kembali isi dari ceramah kuliah tersebut. b. menggunakan dua keterampilan berbahasa yaitu listening (mendengar) dan speaking (berbicara) untuk berkomunikasi secara lisan. c. menggunakan ungkapan-ungkapan tertentu untuk menyampaikan maksud tertentu. d. menemukan informasi tertentu dalam percakapan/ceramah kuliah. e. berdiskusi mengenai topik-topik tertentu dan berbicara sesuai dengan tata bahasa yang telah diajarkan. 2. Deskripsi Mata Kuliah Materi perkuliahan Listening 2 ini meliputi: (1) Pre-Coursework Evaluation, berisi ceramah kuliah: the process of lecture comprehension, dan latihan-latihan untuk membantu dosen mengevaluasi tingkat kemampuan mahasiswa sebagai langkah awal perkuliahan; (2) Looking at Lecture Transcripts, berisi transkrip ceramah kuliah dan latihan-latihan yang dirancang untuk membantu mahasiswa untuk lebih memahami gaya penyampaian ceramah (lecture discourse style), seperti banyaknya paraphrase dan ucapan yang berlebihan (redundancy), penggunaan tanda/indikasi (cues) untuk mengenalkan topik baru, mengarahkan ke hal tertentu, dan mengakhiri ceramah; (3) Note-Taking Basics, berisi petunjuk, informasi dan latihan-latihan tentang note-taking basics; (4) Noting Numbers and Statistics, berisi ceramah kuliah dan latihan-latihan tentang pencatatan angka, tahun dan statistik; (5) Listening for Organization in Lectures, berisi pengenalan terhadap berbagai strategi pengaturan materi ceramah kuliah; (6) Lecture Comprehension and Note-Taking Practice, yang berisi 12 materi ceramah kuliah untuk mempraktekkan ketrampilan yang dipelajari pada no 1 s/d 5 di atas; (7) Post-Course Evaluation, berisi 2 ceramah kuliah yang digunakan untuk evaluasi terakhir. 3. Uraian Pokok Bahasan Pertemuan 1: Membahas pokok bahasan The process of lecture comprehension (Lecture1) meliputi: 1. Lecture focuses on the differences between listening to lectures and listening in everyday situation. (halaman 2) 2. Lecture focuses on tasks for students need to do while listening to lectures.
