1. Poverty

Effects of Poverty on Children's Nutrition (Body Mass Index)

Poverty is ranked as the highest priority problem in the community as presented by the Barangay Profile. Although the barangay's zoning classification is A, only 30% are affluent, i.e. part of the population that belongs to Class A & B. The remaining 70% are urban poor or those that are depressed-- in digits, this make up 105,000 people who live among the streets in Kasiyahan, Kapalaran, Kaligtasan, Immaculate, Zuzuaregui, Ussafe, Nawasa Line, Controlled Zone, and Republic Areas.

Due to economical incapacity of the many families in the barangay, there is a risk of lacks in the supplementation of the basic needs of their respective children. According to Maslow's (1943) Hierarchy of Needs, the physiological needs remain at the bottom of the pyramid signifying its impact on the health of the people.

With this, children are subjects for assessment if they are receiving the right amount of nutrition to keep them from malnourishment.

2. Unemployment

Attitudes and Awareness of the Depressed Area Population on Livelihood Programs

The poverty experienced in the community is due to several cases, but the major factor of its existence in the barangay is unemployment. Barangay Captain Valmocina (2013) stated that a repetitive observation on their employment projects is that there is an increasing number in the number of applications when Job Fairs are held in the Barangay Centers.

In this light, the barangay have attempted to reduce the number of unemployed residents through livelihood programs where the given residents are trained weekly. The training has been ongoing since January 2013, and only a few have enrolled in the program.

Data is to be collected among the residents in the depressed areas on their attitudes and awareness of the barangay's livelihood program.

3. Peace and Order

Effects of Curfew on Private and Public Subdivisions

As of the Midterm statistical analysis of the cases filed in the Barangay court, there are 111 cases last January, 129 cases last February, and only 99 cases last March this 2013.

The need to monitor the peace and order in the community is a need for decreasing quarrels and physical harms injured upon the residents. The goal is in search for an answer to provide a harmonious relationship among the community people.

In a study to suggest new findings, curfew is to be experimented on the private and public subdivision where it will be compared whether curfew is more appropriate from one than the other. Its effects are instrumental in producing case-reducing outputs.
