Proposal for

Ethics & Civics Training

General. Our society is a state of deep ferment from a multiple crises of social
upheaval, political turmoil and economic inequity. These existential crises have resulted into a deep polarization of our society, imbued intolerance, created fissiparous tendencies and have unhinged our moral and ethical compass. These nihilistic trends can only be reversed by imparting quality education to our youth and strengthening our inchoate civil society. A vital complement to academic learning is a strong dose of ethical and civic training; which is woefully lacking in our taxonomy of education.

Aim. The aim of this short paper is to propose a syllabus and concomitant
actions to inculcate ethic and civic norms among our youth,; so that they become responsible citizens of a healthy and forward looking society.

Character Building Sense of Responsibility Ethical behavior Confidence building Adherence to religious/ social norms Inculcation of etiquettes Inculcation of tolerance

Salient Concepts/ Definitions:

Ethics Ethics is the distinction between right and wrong. Systems of moral principles rules and/ or conduct. A science that deals with morals. (Morality is a branch of philosophy.) Moral Correctness: Concerning principles of right and wrong behavior; ethical. Based on peoples sense. Standards of behavior. Civic Of a town or city; municipal Of citizens or citizenship

Methodology. Coordination and plan with youth forums and educational

institutes to deliver: Interactive Lectures Multi-Media Presentations Seminars

Syllabus. Based upon the above concept , a comprehensive syllabus will be

formulated, catering for students of various age groups.

Duration. Each training session shall be of one day duration. Issuance of Certificates. Each participant shall be issued a certificate of
participation.

Resources:
Funding/ Material: It is intended to seek sponsors from within civil society, corporate world and educational institutions for necessary funding. Human Resources: Enhance will use its own panel of trainers and expert guest speakers. For subsequent follow-up, teachers/ trainers indigenous to educational institutions shall be trained.

Recognition. Due recognition shall be accorded to the sponsors by:

Publicizing their contribution/ efforts through media. Display of their logo at the venue. Logo on the certificates given to the participants.
