Figure 1: M100

Features
Active and reactive energy metering Single phase or three phase connection Balanced or unbalanced load One or two line LCD display (one line per counter) Pulsed outputs available (1 or 2, as an option) Setting of CT primary value Compact design

Application
M100 applications include; Energy measurement to IEC 61036 Class 1.0 Replacement/upgrade of existing energy meters Energy metering for building management or power management systems using pulsed outputs The M100 is intended for use on systems where energy monitoring is required, being capable of providing display of one or two metering quantities, each of which can be specified for active or reactive power, and for import or export measurement. Options also provide pulsed outputs for 1 or 2 measurements. In this application, the M100 provides a more compact solution than electromagnetic devices.

Functions
One or two parameters, according to the model ordered, selected from: Import active energy Whtotalimport Export active energy Whtotalexport Import reactive energy VArhtotalimport Export reactive energy VArhtotalexport

Configuration
It is possible to modify the following parameters, using the optional external pushbutton: Current transformer primary value Reset of energy meters

Introduction
The M100 energy meter uses numerical technology to achieve high accuracy over a wide dynamic measuring range. It measures energy for single or three phase systems. Housed in a DIN standard 96mm by 96mm case, the M100 is compact, rugged and ideal for panel mounting in power distribution and power monitoring applications.

Hardware Description
The M100 is housed in a DIN case with maximum dimensions of 96mm by 96mm by 96mm. M100 variants are available for single phase systems or 3 phase 3 or 4 wire systems, with balanced or unbalanced loads. The front panel contains a 1 or 2 line alphanumeric liquid crystal display of 16 characters per line, with a character size of 4.86mm by 2.96mm. Measuring circuit connections on the rear are by means of individual M4 screw clamp terminals, auxiliary and pulsed output connections using M2.5 terminal blocks. A copy of the relevant DIN circuit diagram is printed on a label on the device.

Procedure for resetting channel 2

Press the setting button twice and hold.

(b) To change to the next digit hold the setting button until E is displayed and release. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until the correct CT ratio is set.

2*RESET* 5
The above display is shown. The display will show the far right digit count down from 5 to 0 and then return to the normal working display. The counter should have reset to zero. If the setting button is released before zero count is reached the counter will not reset.
Procedure for changing the CT ratio

CT=00000/5 SET
4. When changing the CT primary settings the last digit set should be the far right digit as shown below. 5. Once this digit has been set, press the setting button and release when E is displayed. 6. This will enter the new setting into the unit. If you finish on any other digit, the unit will default back to the original setting. 7. If the device is left in the CT setting mode it will automatically change to the normal working display after 30 seconds, defaulting to the latest fully programmed value (ie. any incomplete changes will be lost).

User Interface
If the external pushbutton option has been selected, the configurable features of the M100 can be accessed through a menu-driven system. The menu is arranged as shown below: Active and reactive energy are displayed when the device is switched on.

1. Press the setting button three times and hold until the CT ratio is displayed. 2. Press the setting button once. Rolling characters, +, , b, E should appear in the bottom right hand corner of the display. 3. Hold the setting button in until E is displayed, then release. SET will appear under the CT ratio and an underscore will appear under the first digit as shown below.

Procedure for resetting channel 1

CT=00000/5 SET
(a) To increase the digits by one, press and hold the setting button until a + is displayed and release. To decrease the digits hold the setting button until a is displayed and release. Repeat step (a) until the correct reading is displayed.

Press the setting button once and hold.

1*RESET* 5
The above display is shown. The display will show the far right digit count down from 5 to 0 and then return to the normal working display. The counter should have reset to zero. If the setting button is released before zero count is reached the counter will not reset.

The standard devices on offer reflect the new normalised European voltage, eg. 230V L-N will work on a 220V or 240V system. Therefore, if for example a 220V unit is requested, a nominal 230V unit will be supplied. NB. The unit of measurement displayed changes according to the change in CT ratio. The energy per pulse is related to the displayed value. See Table 1 below for default settings.
