Myth vs. Fact

Myth: Gum chewing is bad for your teeth Fact: Chewing sugar-free gum can actually be good for your teeth. It helps to neutralize the acids in your mouth and lift out the food debris that gets trapped in the pits and grooves of you teeth. When you cant get to a toothbrush, gum chewing is a nice alternative after having a meal or snack. It is sugared gum that you should avoid at all costs. Additionally, you should limit the length of time you chew gum because lengthy chewing can aggravate your TMJ and cause discomfort and strain on that joint.
