5.3.

Reducer Modelling a reducer shall be done with the use of the reducer check box in the Caesar input screen. Important is to have the weakest cross section modeled in the Caesar model (e.g. the small end of a reducer at a flanged safety valve).

While modelling the Process & Mechanical Properties of node 20 to 30 will be same as node 10 to 20 and the Process & Mechanical properties of node 60 to 70 will be same as node 50 to 60.

5.3.4

Single/double flanged elbows Elbows adjacent to one or two stiff elements shall be indicated as single or double flanged.

5.3.5

Trunnions As per Clause No. 2.7.1 in EDB Doc No. 6867-00-16-43-DB-01 REV B (Page 18 of 41) Length of trunnion is to be limited to 500 mm. If Trunnion fails for imposed loading; Following Qualification Criteria shall be adopted: 1) Reinforcing Pad Shall be provided irrespective whether it is elbow trunnion or trunnion on straight length of pipe as per clause 5.0.11 section C-3.6 of EDB Doc No. 6867-0016-43-SP06-REV 0 SHT 12 OF 24. ( To be Marked on Isometrics) 2) 3) 4) 5) If 500mm trunnion length is not possible under any circumstances, extend T.L. to suit structure & apply above criteria for qualify. Increase sch. of trunnions. Trunnion qualification calculation to be done and Detailed Trunnion qualification calculations are provided with Appendix-F. Equal size trunnions for pipe supports are not applicable.

5.3.6

Modelling Equipment o Equipment is to be modelled in order to cover the influence of the equipment on the piping and nozzle loads.
o

Do not use nozzle flexibility as a standard practice. Use this as a last resource to qualify equipment nozzle and to be marked on isometrics.

5.3.7

Spring Hangers Spring Hangers shall be designed for Normal operating conditions but variations shall be checked at Design/Analysis conditions in order to ensure that Load variation is within 15%. Default spring vendor shall be selected as SARATHI. For sample format of spring data sheet refer Appendix H.

5.3.8

Safety Relief Valves Relief valve loads are to be considered in the Caesar calculation as per clause 2.2.6 of EDB Doc No. 6867-00-16-43-DB-01 REV B (Page 10 of 41).

5.3.9

Weights of valves, flanges, Nuts and Bolts etc. Weights of valves, flanges etc are to be taken as per Caesar Database (Library) In case weight data of a control valve is not available, 1.5

times the weight of a globe valve (same size and rating to that of control valve) weight is to be considered. If in case weight of inline elements (e.g. flow elements, strainers and orifice plates etc.) not available weight of single flange is to be considered. Weights of Nuts and Bolts are to be considered for Line size 8 and above. For Line Size 6 and below it can be ignored. 5.3.10 Branch connection of large bore pipe Branch connection for pipe 24 and above.

Stress Intensification Factor of Branch Rigid Member (Weight Zero) (Size is same as Run Pipe) ^Stress Intensification Factor of Branch Pipe Size =>24
5.3.11 Branches exceeding D/t >100 FE pipe should be used to calculate SIF of connection having D/t ratio more than 100 and same shall be input in the CAESAR II model.
