Medium - pressure fan type MT.

FLS medium-pressure fans, type MT, are used in industry to generate a flow of clean or dustladen, non-abrasive gases. The fans MT 50-90 are designed for temperatures up to 125oC, and the fans size MT 100-400 can withstand constant flow temperatures up to 400C and 450C for short periods. MT fans work at pressures up to 9000 Pa with performances up to 250 M 3 /S, and are designed to operate in the rigorous environment of the cement industry. The shrouded impeller with S-shaped blades is bolted to a cast hub. The fan hub and impeller are statically and dynamically balanced to ensure vibration-free operation. The fan is provided with an access door for inspection of the impeller. When operating at temperatures above 150oC the shaft is fitted with a cooling disc to prevent overheating of the bearings. Owing to the heavy duty design, no emergency drive is required in the event of power cuts. The FLS MT fans are fitted with spherical, self-aligning roller bearings of the grease lubricated type. The bearing housings are bolted to a base frame. In the case of small fans the base frame and the fan casing are integrated into a single unit using a steel foundation. For large fans the base frame is grouted in a concrete foundation. The motor power is transmitted via a V-belt pulley (up to 250 kW) or by a flexible coupling. Highest operating economy is attained by applying a speed-controlled motor. Maintenance requirements are negligible, the lubrication frequency depending on operational conditions. Bearing temperatures up to 100oC are acceptable. Thermal sensors are included as standard with fans from size 160 and upwards. Monitoring equipment to guard against excessive vibration is available on request.

A complete type designation is e.g. MT 280 S, the first two letters indicating a medium pressure fan, followed by one set of digits showing nominal diameter in cm. The last letters indicate impeller width: SH: Narrow impeller SS : Fundamental impeller width S: Wide impeller
