II. Subject Matter Preventing Land, Water and Air Pollution A. Science Concept/Ideas Land, water, and air pollution can be prevented in a number of ways. Planting more trees, installing anti-pollution devices in factories and motor vehicles, digging compost pits, proper handling of household substances and participating in government projects about saving the environment are some ways of preventing pollution. References: BEC-PELC Science and Health 4, Science for Daily Use 4 III. Procedure A. Preparatory Activities 1. Review What pollutants can pollute water, land and air? 2. Motivation Present a video of polluted land, water and air. Ask: What did you observe? What makes it polluted? B. Developmental Activities 1. Group the pupils into three. Let each group role play a situation showing prevention of air, land and water. 2. Group presentation 3. Analysis and Discussion: a. What can you say about the presentation of each group? b. What ways of preventing pollution are presented by each group? c. What kind of substances usually pollutes soil, water, and air? d. How do they contribute to land, water, and air pollution? e. In what ways can we minimize air, water and air pollution? C. Generalization What are the causes of pollution in the environment? How can we prevent these pollutions? Show video D. Application: Draw a poster showing how can you help prevent pollution in your community.
