HIGH VOLTAGE SWITCHING

INTRODUCTION
The objective of the High Voltage Switching series of training programs is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to perform high voltage switching operations on utility assets in a manner that maintains the integrity of the network and is safe for workers and equipment. ETSA Utilities requires that high voltage switching operators are not only competent, but hold a current licence for the category of work they are performing. Operators must continue to demonstrate their competence by attending re-accreditation training. High voltage underground switching category 10 (restricted) and assessment for re-accreditation High voltage overhead switching category 11 (general) and assessment for re-accreditation High voltage underground switching category 11 (restricted) and assessment for re-accreditation High voltage switching category 12 (CBD) and assessment for re-accreditation Mobile transformers category 13 and assessment for re-accreditation High voltage switching category 14 (Elizabeth) and assessment for re-accreditation High voltage switching category 18 (Football Park) and assessment for re-accreditation.

CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of these training programs, participants will receive a Statement of Attendance and be eligible for ETSA Utilities licences for the high voltage switching categories deemed competent in.

TRAINING VENUES
Training can be delivered at our Angle Park Training Centre (20 minutes from the Adelaide CBD), or the Davenport Training Centre in Port Augusta. Both of these facilities have been purpose built and include well-equipped classrooms, workshops, pole yards and a range of other dedicated areas for the conduct of practical exercises and assessments. High Voltage Switching training programs can also be conducted on site if all switchgear required by the training program is available and the learning environment is appropriate for the delivery of high quality training.

DURATION
The length of High Voltage Switching training programs varies in accordance with the nature and purpose of the training being delivered.

DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT

All training programs offered as part of the High Voltage Switching series will be delivered by highly-skilled, professional trainers using a range of methodologies including presentations, group discussions and practical exercises. To successfully complete initial training programs, participants will be required to complete a combination of written and practical assessments. High voltage switching category 10 and 11 initial training programs will also require the successful completion of a logbook and a final practical assessment. All assessment for re-accreditation training programs will require the successful completion of a written and practical assessment.

TRAINING PROGRAMS
The following training programs are offered as part of the High Voltage Switching series: High voltage switching and isolation Emergency restoration system familiarisation Switching outage diary system Tapping High voltage transmission switching category 2 (ElectraNet) and ssessment for re-accreditation ElectraNet customer interface category 3 and assessment for re-accreditation High voltage overhead switching category 10 (general) and assessment for re-accreditation
