California
Lieutenant
Gov.
Gavin
Newsom
has
endorsed
Nathan
Fletcher
for
mayor
--
the
second
endorsement
this
week
from
a
California
official
elected
statewide;
Tom
Torlakson,
the
State
Superintendent
for
Public
Instruction,
endorsed
Fletcher
on
Tuesday.
I
am
proud
to
endorse
Nathan
Fletcher
to
become
the
next
mayor
of
San
Diego.
Nathan
has
demonstrated
the
ability
to
bring
people
together
to
move
San
Diego
forward
and
has
put
in
the
hard
work
to
be
effective
and
create
results,
Newsom
said.
When
it
comes
to
fixing
streets
and
sidewalks,
or
improving
911
response
times,
Nathan
Fletcher
is
the
right
person
for
the
job.
With
his
strong
focus
on
creating
jobs
in
California,
Newsoms
endorsement
was
a
natural
fit.
Newsom
also
understands
the
challenges
of
leading
a
great
city,
Fletcher
said.
Im
honored
to
have
the
support
of
Lt.
Gov.
Newsom,
who,
as
the
former
San
Francisco
mayor,
knows
the
importance
of
basic
city
services,
Fletcher
said.
"I'm
also
happy
to
add
another
leading
California
Democrat
as
a
supporter
in
my
campaign
for
mayor
of
San
Diego."
Since
launching
his
campaign
last
month,
Fletcher
has
earned
the
endorsement
of
a

of
local,
state
and
federal
elected
leaders,
including

Vargas
and

Peters,
