Yesterday I posted on some of our Yahoo Telangana websites about paradoxical militaristic strategies currently employed in the context of Telangana statehood. Now lets briefly discuss how and why such an approach is a blunder in civilian issues 1. Paradoxical approaches will not consider established social, political, ethical, moral, legal and constitutional norms and rules when executed. 2. This approach breeches credibility of the State administration and thereby annuls the relationship of the citizens to the government and provoke similar paradoxical reprisals from the victimized groups. Example: When police forces fire on masses of unarmed innocent youth killing minors and women, which is a total violation of all known humanitarian laws in world. Now that civic code is broken by the State administration paving easy way for victimized masses and their families to stage a retaliatory counter attack on similarly vulnerable groups on the other side. When one takes other mans limb to satisfy his greed while the other man tactically retaliates by taking the opponents head off. 3. Paradoxical approaches are exclusively used in military tactical approach because a. Whole invading armed forces and their whole loyalties are almost totally guaranteed to the invading nation and not even a fraction of then care about foreign people under occupation. However in civilian strife within a nation ruled by democratically elected government, the armed forces are so diverse socially, politically and ethnically that one never knows who is loyal to whom. This feature makes a policy maker almost equally vulnerable. b. Unarmed civilian population of invading nation is in a distinct geographical location which can be easily shielded from potential attacks. But in the case of civilian unrests both predators and victims live in same society or as numerous small isolated clusters, often occupying minority surrounded by large masses of native populations, which makes both groups equally vulnerable to attacks from their opponents. 4. It will be a major disaster for the non-natives if occupying groups are totally land locked in an island on all sides surrounded by the native people for obvious reasons. Best example is German occupation of Stalingrad during World War 2 that was wholly surrounded by Soviet people, which later became suicidal Germans after the Hitlers decision not to give up Stalingrad. 5. Because of the inherent flaws in current strategy, which can potentially destabilize the democratic fabric of the nation and a strong potential to create new insurgency, the Indian National Congress has to come up with new game plan soon. Even if New Delhi administration started using paradoxical approach, soon it will be coming up with more civilian, more democratic, lesser and lesser militaristic methods for resolution of current Telangana crisis. 6. If you want to prevent a war best method is get well prepared for the war. 7. If you want to win the war, give your enemy an ample chance and route to escape.
