Some adverbs tell us how an action is or should be performed. Often these adverbs are formed by adding -ly to the end of an adjective. Adjectives ending -l add -ly ; careful-carefully. Adjectives ending -y change to -ily ; lucky-luckily Adjectives ending -ble change to -bly ; responsibleresponsibly.
An adverb that focuses on a particular part of the sentence. (Also called focusing adjunct .) A few focusing adverbials are prepositional phrases. Adverbs such as however, nevertheless and therefore are often used to connect the ideas expressed by the clauses in which they occur to ideas expressed in previous clauses.
