Description: Stakeholders: BMC (Brihanmumbai Muncipal Corporation), Motorists, Private contractors, Parking lot attendants. Issues in the Existing System: As per the current system, BMC follows the reservation policy and grants contracts to private contractors for operating the 86 parking lots across the city. These private contractors misuse the system and overcharge the motorists. Also there is no facility available to check the availability of space in these parking lots. New System: New hi-tech web based parking system will be implemented across all the civic parking lots. Attendants at these parking lots would have handheld devices to generate parking bills. Such devices would have the parking charges preset in them and hence they eliminate the possibility of contractors overcharging the motorists. Motorists will have the facility to check space availability at these parking lots through a mobile and web app. Business Processes: Motorist will check the availability of space in a particular parking lot through a mobile and web app. Depending on the availability he will take a decision to use a particular parking lot. In the parking lot, entry of the motorist will be recorded. This will include entry time, type of vehicle (2 wheeler/ 4 wheeler) and vehicle number. A unique ID number will be generated for that motorist and its record will be kept in the system. The exit of motorist will also be recorded in the system based on this unique ID. Bill should be generated based on the business rules of BMC such as Two wheeler (Rupees per hour *(entry time- exit time)) and similarly for four wheelers. Payment will be done by the motorist and attendant will record the payment status in the system using the handheld device. Automatic update about the space availability will happen in the system upon the exit of motorist. Revenue will be updated in the parking system. A proper database will be maintained thorough which BMC will be able to calculate daily, weekly, monthly, yearly revenues. BMC will also have data about the different other parameters like number and type of vehicles, space availability on particular days etc and can forecast trends based on such data. It will help them take any necessary actions. Pre-requisites for the system: Data about the locations of parking lots Rates per hour for each type of vehicle (2 wheeler/ 4 wheeler)

Data maintained in the system: Locations Parking Lots at the respective locations Rates per hour for two wheelers and four wheelers Vehicle details such as vehicle number, entry time, type, exit time Automatic unique ID generated for the particular entry of a motorist Charges paid by the motorist Consolidated revenue for the BMC Space availability at respective parking lots
