Janier C31 Zeitgeist Part One: The Greatest Story Ever Told

The Greatest Story Ever Told presents historical data relating to the astronomical/astrological theology and other of origins as of well. the It In Jewish-Christian really an religions Pagan

states that these respective stories, beliefs & traditions are adaptation-extension prior beliefs. other words, evidence shows that these modern religions are really composites of earlier religions with their stories and symbolisms borrowed or plagiarised as the new traditions evolved. Of course, believers of theistic religions have a inherent, self-preserving interest to disagree with such a notion, for it brings their religion out of the context of the supernatural and novel - and into the context of a singular, serial intellectual evolution of information where many religions begin to share a common symbolic and literary basis. Regardless, this section of the 3 part movie isnt really about whether God exists or any such issue - it is about the firm reality that religions have been borrowing and building upon each other, while the central origin of these theologies almost always comes back to the ancient peoples fascination to the sun.

At the start of the movie, it talks about the ancient peoples adoration and respect to the sun. This is because the sun brings light, warmth and crop growth to the civilizations. Likewise, they were also very aware of the stars. The tracking of the stars allowed them to recognize and anticipate events which occurred over long periods of time, such as eclipses and

full moons. They in turn catalogued celestial groups into what we know today as constellations. The sun and other celestial bodies were personified with myths involving their movements and relationships. One of their focuses was the sun and the story of the sun became highly developed over a period of thousands of years, possibly tens of thousands or more. The observations of the sun and its daily, monthly, annual and processional movements have led to complex myths in which it was personified as a god.

Horus, the sun god of Egypt was described. He was born on December 25th, born of a virgin mother, and his birth was signalled by a star in the east etc. It shows the striking similarities between Horus and the other gods of religions, namely Jesus Christ of Christianity. The birth sequence of Jesus is explained to be completely astronomical. Sirius is the brightest sky in the night sky which on December 24th, aligns with the three brightest stars in Orions Belt. The Three Kings and Sirius all point to the place of the sunrise on December 25th. So the story goes that Sirius, The Star in the East is followed by the Three Kings which is the ancient name of Orions Belt. This is in order to locate the sunrise or Jesus. The movie then goes on to explain that all the other characteristics of Jesus and other gods lives have an astrological and astronomical explanation. The movie concludes with belief that it was the political establishments that sought to historicize the Jesus figure for social control. And for over the next 1,000 years, the Vatican maintained a political stranglehold on all of Europe, leading to such joyous periods as the Dark Ages, along with enlightening events such as the Crusades, and the Inquisition.

Christianity, along with all other related theologies, is an historical support fraud. These religions to now serve They to detach the species from the natural world and likewise each other. They blind submission authority. reduce human responsibility to the effect that God controls everything, and in turn awful crimes can be justified in the name of a Divine Pursuit. And most critically, it empowers the political establishment, who have been using the myth to manipulate and control societies. Ending with a quote that The religious myth is the most powerful device ever created, and serves as the psychological soil upon which other myths can flourish. I enjoyed the movie even though it was only 30 minutes. To anyone watching it, you have to plough through the first bit, with the sounds and weird coloured lights. However there are some holes in the facts and some of them are merely baseless allegations given by the movie. For one, the narrator tells us that Egyptian ideas such as Baptism, Afterlife, Final Judgment, Virgin Birth, Death and Resurrection, Crucifixion, Holy Communion, Easter and Christmas etc are the foundation of Christian and Jewish beliefs. However, this are all of which are only Christian concepts, not Jewish. Continuing on with the 'no evidence' theme, he failed to substantiate the claim that these are Egyptian traditions in any way.

In a nutshell, this movie is a good eye opener for people who have been so blinded by religious teachings that they cant look after themselves and search for the truth. I long for movies like this. Being a free thinker, I was able to connect emotionally with this movie. I think its time that we all stand up for ourselves and start questioning the information that has been so forcefully fed to us since birth. This movie might not be true, but the only real source of truth is us. We have to find out for ourselves what the truth really is.
