Analog or Digital

DVI-D single link (TMDS pairs 0-2 present, 3-5 may be present in the plug, but are not wired) DVI-D dual link (all TMDS pairs MUST be present and wired) DVI-A (only analog pins are present; digital pins may be present in the plug, but are not wired) DVI-I (all pins present and wired)

Connector

Do not mix with the Plug & Display (P&D(Vesa), M1-DA(Infocus)) connector, which looks very similar and has 3x10 pins +5 analog as well. The DVI-D connector has a narrower C5 pin than DVI-A/I to avoid damage to C1-4 if the user attempts to plug into a DVI-D socket. The DVI-I is normally only used for an output or input socket, not a cable, unless it is an extension cable.

Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T and 100Base-T4 Crossover

From HwB

Also known as Crossed Network cable This cable can be used to cascade hubs, or for connecting two Ethernet stations back-toback without a hub. It works with 10Base-T, 100Base-TX, 100Base-T4 and 1000BaseT. Use a good enough cable, if you are confused about categories of cables then use category 5e(nhanced) and you'll be fine even at 1000Base-T.

That means that the white/orange cable connected to NIC 1 pin 1 should go to NIC 2 pin 3 and NIC 1 pin 2 to NIC 2 pin 6 etc. Notes:

It's important that each pair is kept as a pair. TX+ & TX- must be in the pair, and RX+ & RX- must together in another pair. (Just as the table above shows). While 10Base-T and 100Base-TX only uses 2 pairs, please connect all four since 100Base-T4 and 1000Base-T needs them and save yourself some future debugging :) The colors originate from the numbering and name on NIC1.

Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Straight Thru

From HwB
Wiring scheme: EIA/TIA 568B This cable will work with 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and 1000Base-T and is used to connect a network interface card to a hub or network outlet. These cables are sometimes called "whips". Note: While 10BaseT and 100Base-TX only uses two pairs, please do connect all pairs since 1000BaseT uses all of them, and save yourself some future debugging :)
