NIGHT OUT - CARDBOARD CITY

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26 - SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27 Archangels Catholic Cluster is hosting an overnight for all parishes in the Cluster to raise awareness of the homeless situation in North Iowa. Join us in setting up a Cardboard City at St. Patrick s Catholic Church in Britt. A Soup Kitchen meal will be provided at 7:00 PM on Saturday night. night The overnight will begin at 8:00 PM and is open to all middle/high school students and their families. Our Night Out will end with Sunday Mass at 8:00 AM. This will be a Youth Mass. Mass will be followed by a free will
Night Out will include bonfire, games, speakers and other activities. All participants are asked to bring items to donate to the Trinity House of Hope in Mason City. Included are: Hygiene products, baby items, cleaning items, non-perishable food

NOTES FROM THE DESK OF FR. DENNIS MILLER

Im back. Sorry for not having a column the last couple of weeks but things got kind of hectic surrounding the tour to Italy and Austria. I want to thank Fr. Paul and Msgr. Hemann for covering for me when I was gone. It was a beautiful trip for many reasons. Ill never forget celebrating Mass in the crypt church of St. Mark in Venice, seeing the statue of David in Florence, and praying with the Pope in St. Peters Square. We also got to see Fr. Dellaert who is studying in Rome and I got to participate in the ordination of Deacon Mark Murphy, Deacon Jeff Dole, and Deacon Kyle Digmann. Still its nice to get home and rest and get caught up on things before I start recruiting for my next international pilgrimage: Pubs and Pews: a tour of churches and breweries in Ireland, which will take place in the Spring of 2015. One of the things Ive been derelict in doing ever since I was called to be your pastor is commissioning people to ministries and especially Extraordinary Ministry of Holy Communion. Each year, we are supposed to call forth the people who help to distribute Holy Communion so that they can be blessed and recognized by the community and I havent done that since I got here. So, starting in November, Im going to have a short 10 minute refresher training before Mass begins for all people interested in continuing or beginning to distribute Holy Communion. The schedule is the following November 2nd November 3rd November 9th November 10th 4:15 pm at St. Wenceslaus in Duncan basement 7:45 am at St. Patricks in Britt social hall 9:45 am at St. Boniface in Garner basement 5:45 pm at St. Patricks in Buffalo Center basement 8:15 am at St. Patricks in Lake Mills basement 10:15 am at St. James in Forest City social hall

BE A LIFESAVER! Life saver packets with prolife messages will be given out after Mass this weekend and until all the packets are gone. These packets can be used to hand out wherever you go - to friends, kids, even the waitress at the restaurant, anywhere! Who knows how the messages may touch the life of another. Your free will donation for these packets will help support the March for Life Trip this coming January. Remember that God is ProLife!!!

Candle-carriers are still needed for the Living Rosary on Sunday, October 27 ~ St. James forRespect Respect for Life beginning at 6:30 PM.
