FIRING PROBLEM AT TATA NANO INTRODUCTION The is about the firing problem in the TATA NANO car.

. Due to the inefficiency and faulty switch placed near steering wheel in TATA NANO, the owner (like Mr. Satish Sawant and others) of the car had suffered a lot not only because of the damages but also mental trauma he and his family has after this incidence. Same types of accidents in TATA NANO were increasing in last one year. The owner of the car were filing case against TATA MOTORS and asking for the compensation and demanding Rs.15 lakh as damages. TATA MOTORS has offered to return the money of the car, and investigating for the exact cause of the fire. SITUATION ANALYSIS The owner of the TATA NANO, in this case i.e. Mr.Satish Sawants car caught fire just one and half hours after the delivery, for which he has spent Rs.2.4 lakh. He sent a notice to Tata Motors threatened legal actions in case the auto major fails to act within 2 weeks from the issue date and compensate by refunding the amount of the car. Tata Motors had refund the amount of the car, but The advocate of the owner of the car is asking to pay Rs. 15 lakh as the compensation. Tata motors announced the problem with the faulty switch placed near steering wheel and is investigating for the exact cause of firing. IDENTIFICATION OF PROBLEM PRIMARY PROBLEM Firing in TATA NANO due to faulty switch placed near steering wheel. SECONDARY PROBLEMS Mental stress and trauma people are having because of these incidences. Decrease in the image of the Tata Motors.

SWOT ANALYSIS STRENGTHS TATA, the brand name. One of the best company in Automobile industry. TATA NANO, most inexpensive car in India till now. Increased number of customers of Tata Nano because of less price.

WEAKNESS Faulty switches. Inefficiency in the new lot of cars. Dissatisfied customers. Poor image of the company may rise. Sales decreases.

OPPORTUNITIES Better audit could do things better. Adding safety devices in car. THREATS From the competitors. From the legal actions taken by the government against the manufacturing due to notices and complaints from the customers. Problem in retaining the customers. DEVLOPMENT OF ALTERNATIVES Regular inspection should be done while manufacturing the Tata Nano cars. Safety and preventive tools should be there in every cars. The company should have a word with the owners of the cars who are having problems to an extent, as compensate with the customer by pay the claim of Rs.15 lakh, if they really find problems regarding switch. Extra services such as free services, free time to time checks, etc. could be done from the dealers. Proper investigations should be done effectively regarding these cases.

BEST ALTERNATIVE Tata Motors might go in for a pre-emptive inspection of the Tata Nano cars which are about to go out to customers or at the time of delivery and immediate corrective action should be taken if they have any problem. The customers claim should be given if Tata motors finds any mistake regarding firing. IMPLIMENTATION OF PLAN The implementation can be done on the part of the management itself, Tata Motors have to take strong decisions regarding the firing problem and compensate its customers and give them extra services to retain customers and gain there loyalty. SUGGESTIONS Tata motors should give attention to the security in car and preventive measures should be taken by them. The customers should be given extra compensation such as free services and pick and drop facilities, etc to those customers who have suffered from this incidence. LEARNINGS After analyzing the whole case, I came to know that the situation in this case is the worst part for the so called big brand TATA. Here, proper corrective measures should be taken by Tata Motors with full compensation and negotiation with the customers who has beard great losses due to firing. In the investigation if the company finds any problem related to this then Tata Motors should definitely pay Rs.15lakh to Mr.Sushil Sawant. ANSWER TO THE QUESTIONS Q1.What according to you is the best solution for firing problem from viewpoint of Tata Motors? Answer Proper investigation. Compensate with the customers who are having problem related to firing in car. To retain customers company should give them some extra free services. More safety and preventive measures should be taken in the car.

Q2.If you were in place of Mr. Sushil Sawant, what you would have done? Answer I would have definitely taken some legal action as it is related to ones life. Also I would asked them to compensate me with the money but not ask for Rs.15 lakh as this amount is too much as compared to the actual amount of the car, and also mental stress and trauma and other costs would not cost up to Rs.15 lakh.
