Meet Outreach!
Farrow and Jamie Tutton (pictured left). Working out of the Manvers Street night shelter and the Reach offices, the team carry out regular outreach sessions throughout the week connecting with rough sleepers in the area to try to bring them into contact with services. The Assertive Outreach team is a partnership between Reach and Julian House, with two dedicated workers: Annie Much of the teams work is around reconnecting rough sleepers to local authorities with which they have a connection, as BANES services cannot provide for clients who do not have a local connection. The team respond to reports from the public about rough sleepers they may be concerned about through the Report a Rough Sleeper helpline. On Friday mornings they provide a cooked breakfast at Space 2 next to the Julian House New King Street office. Running from 9am, the aim is to provide a hot meal for rough sleepers and keep contact with them through a beneficial service. Concerned about a rough sleeper? Contact the team at Julian House night shelter or the Reach office for a quick response.

Gemma LawReach Social Work Student

Im Gemma,

a Social Work student at the University of Bath currently in my second year of studies. Im on placement at Reach as a Floating Support Worker. Im interested in pursuing a career working with young people and I am particularly interested in working with gangs and young offenders or troubled families. I have not had much previous experience in housing but am aware that it is an important issue and so Im looking forward to learning more about the field and working with clients at Reach.

Support Coordinator, Nik Browne, with visitors to the service from Bath Abbey & Zambia. The Zambian church leaders were interested to learn about local services for vulnerable people .
