Meditation
GODS DECREES Gods decrees are the wise and holy acts of the counsel if his will, whereby from all eternity, he has, for his own glory, unchangeably fore-ordained whatsoever comes to pass in time. Now, observe, it is not said that God has pre-determined efficiently to produce an effect whatsoever comes to pass in time,---for that would make God the author of sin, as well as the author of holiness. Hence in the succeeding answer, as well as in other parts of our venerated Confession, (WCF) our Standards carefully distinguish, between the efficient and permissive decrees of God. All things that are the proper objects of his power and grace, He does efficiently and or influentially produce, agreeably to his eternal and unchangeable will. Thus in the Confession of Faith, chap. 3: section 1 states it is said, God from all eternity did by the most wise and holy counsel of his own will, freely and unchangeably ordained whatsoever comes to pass; yet so as thereby neither is God the author of sin; nor is violence offered to the will of his creatures, nor is the liberty or contingency of second causes taken away, but rather established. That all things, in this sense, are fore-ordained, it is indisputable, unless the prescience or fore-knowledge of God is denied; ----the denial of which would not only be impious, but if carried out, would lead to a blank and cheerless atheism! The argument founded on the necessary prescience or fore-knowledge of God is briefly this: There must have been a time when no creature existed, as God alone is from everlasting. Before creation, and from all eternity, all things that are possible, a well as all things that actually have or will come to pass in time, must have been perfectly known to God, He must therefore, have known, what beings and events on the whole, be most for his own glory, and the greatest good for the universe; and therefore, as an infinitely wise, benevolent, and Almighty Being, he could not but have chosen, or determined, that such beings and events, and such only, should come to pass in time. To allege, that, although, he fore-knew what beings and events, would, on the whole, be best, and yet that he did neither prefer nor fore-ordain that they should be produced and permitted, would be to deny both and benevolence, and to charge the infinite God with supreme folly and malevolence! Or to say, that he fore-knew what would, on the whole, be best, and would have preferred to have secured its existence and occurrence, but could not;--- that he foresaw good that was desirable, but had not power to effect it, is to deny his omnipotence, and to charge the Almighty with impotence or weakness ! Thank you so much for coming to worship God with us today. We hope and pray that you will be blessed among us and that you also will be a blessing to us. If you have any prayer needs or if you'd like to know more about our church, one of our pastors or elders would be very happy to speak with you. ______________________________

Congregational Life
Today, Pastor Murray will conduct the worship services. Next Sunday, seminarian Ian Macleod will preach for us, the Lord willing. The Sunday School classes (beginners 7th Grade) are asked to meet upstairs today. The Psalter of the month is #421:3, 4. Please review with your children. The Christmas Program is being distributed to the Sunday School and Catechism teachers today. A packet will be sent home with your child(ren) today to let you know the verses that your child(ren) should memorize in order to recite them for the Christmas Program on Christmas Day. The songs will be sent home, also. If your child would like to do a special number, these pieces must be submitted to Heather Engelsma or Julie La Rocque no later than December 1. Practices for the Christmas Program will occur on two Sundays: December 15 and 22. We appreciate the time that is spent both in memorizing the verses and learning the words to the songs.
