What is an MPM-100?
The Alber MPM-100 is a complete battery diagnostic system well suited for a variety of monitoring applications The MPM-100 can measure and store the following data
Cell voltage Battery voltage Cell resistance Ambient and electrolyte temperature Discharge current Float current Battery discharge data

How Does the MPM100 Work?

The MPM-100 is permanently connected to a battery via sense lead wiring described later in this tutorial The MPM-100 continuously scans key operating parameters for unacceptable deviations from defined limits When a threshold is exceeded, the MPM100 can be programmed to alert the user with a number of reporting methods

All field wiring is installed on-site by the contractor Voltage sense leads are terminated based on the job-specific requirements

Wiring is typically distributed throughout the battery with the use of Panduittm or other similar plastic channel system

A prefabricated sense lead pigtail is supplied assembled and requires the use of an in-line splice to terminate it to the sense lead harness Each cell has a voltage sense lead as well as an intertier sense lead

Terminating the sense leads to the battery requires the use of one or more types of quick connect fasteners Tab washers are one of several methods employed to properly terminate a sense lead to a cell Additional methods include post clips, c-clamps

When sense and resistance test leads are used on the same post, the resistance test lead must be terminated closest to the battery post

MPM-100 Power Supply Requirements

The MPM-100 can be powered 3 ways
1. An MPM monitoring a 48 volt or lower battery is powered directly from the battery 2. An AC power adapter plugged into protected power source (standard) 3. An optional internal DC-DC converter with power supplied from the battery

The MPM-100 provides two sets of form-c dry contacts for local alarm functions

One or more specific parameters can be selected to cause the Parameter alarm to annunciate by changing the settings in the BMDM software

Alarm Remote Reporting

The MPM-100 can be programmed to remotely report alarms based upon the user requirements
