NOT WRITE TO YOU SOONER BECAUSE A NEW CRISIS HAD DEVELOPED WITH MARY AND

AGAIN \ WAS WROUGHT WITH ANXIETY AND CONCERN FOR HER LIFE,

ABOUT TEN

DAYS AFTER THE OPERATION A BLOOD CLOT (THROMBOSIS ) DEVELOPED ON HER RIGHT
LEG AND HER TEMPERATURE BEGAN TO SOAR, THIS WAS A DIRECT COMPLICATION FROM THE OPERATION ITSELF, SiNCE SHE HAD HAD FIVE BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS ALL FROM DIFFERENT PEOPLE, HER BLOOD HAD TO UNDERGO A PROCESS OF CONDITIONING TO THE NEW BLOOD CELLS, MARY AND I CAN PRAY AND GIVE THANKS TO OUR Heavenly Father more earnestly now than ever before for His having spared HER LIFE FOR FUTURE SERVICE ON THE MISSION FIELD, ShE IS HOME NOW BUT UN ABLE to do any HOUSEWORK FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER MONTH OR TWO, LAST FRIDAY

We rejoice in tlie Lord for tlie wonderful news we received from the Goblets recently, informing us that RADIO TIME over RADIO LUXEMBOURG has "been granted I Actual "broadcasting in the German language is to begin in October I For two years, we have worked and prayed that we might have a weekly radio broadcast in the German language. Our ef forts involved many trips to various cities within Germany, as

well as visits and communications with neighboring countries to secure radio time* Just when our patience was about to expire,

they had received word from Radio Luxembourg, assuring them that a broadcast beginning the first week in October was certainl Our heajrts rejoice in this news, because we were just to the point of abandoning hope. We knew that our efforts within Germany, to secure radio time, were bearing very little fruit.
The" "forces that be" (namely, the Roman Catholic and Evangelical Church) have preference and monopoly over religious broadcasting, because they are the two "approved" religions of Germany.

During the periods of waiting for word from various stations, we began accelerating our work of preparing and printing tracts
for distribution in and around Frankfurt. Besides the many thous

ands which we mimeographed ourselves, we had more than 15?500 tracts printed at a commercial printers. These have been distrib
uted throughout all of Northern Frankfurt, and the suburban areas of Bad Soden, Schwalbach, and Neu Isenburg.

This week, 18,000 new tracts are coming off the press, and by the time this article goes to print, we shall be in the midst of distributing them throughout Germany. These are in addition to our mimeographed papers and tracts. Many more tracts are in
various stages of preparation and translation.

God is blessing this work, and already replies are coming in from souls who are definitely interested in New Testament Christ ianity. Of the replies received so far, only two have been unfav
orable. Contacts with interested souls are being made, and personal
calls have resulted.

Truly, God is blessing our efforts, and is answering our prayers I V/e are putting our complete trust in Him, as He leads
us to the souls who are sincerely seeking Him.

Our tract-evangelism has proved to be so effective, that we

intend to continue in both tract-evangelism and radio-evangelism.

With God's help, we hope to bring His Gospel to the German people through as many means as He will provide, and with what
ever strength we have.

WTe know that many sacrifices are being made, and that many hours are being spent in prayer for us. It touches our hearts, and makes us humble when we stop to consider how God's people everywhere unite in heart and purpose to bring about the furtherance of His work throughout the world.

V/e are proud to have an opportimity to work with Mr. & Mrs. ("Mom" and "Pop") Walter S. Coble of Garrett, Indiana who are the founders of the Gospel Broadcasting Mission. The Cobles have long been engaged in raising support for the English language broadcast from Radio Luxembourg. Through their untiring efforts, this broad cast has been kept on the air, paving the way for missionaries to come into Europe with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Now the work is expanding to include a German language broad
cast -over this same station. We shall be producing, broadcasting,

and'^^ollow-up work with both correspondence and visitation in con_ nec\:ion with the German-language broadcast. Work on the production of thi.s program has already begun,' and^ according to word from the
Coble'*^3, actual broadcasting is to begin in October.
This is not merely an experiment; but a proven method of evangelism, worthy of your support. Radio Luxembourg is the most powerful radio station in the world, and is capable of reaching
almost all of the German-speaking people of Europe.

Bible School announced that the school would not be available

to us for this purpose, this summer.

discovered that*we were teaching Bible Truths.

You see, in Germany, "religion" is taught several hours each day in the German schools. The Catholic children are taught by the Priests, and the IHrangelical Reformed children are feiveh'" catechetical instruction by their "Clergy". These are the two

"approved" religions of Germany.

It is no wonder, then, that

"other" teaching to these same children, is being discouraged whenever possible I We are not saying that there will not be a Vacation Bible School for them this summer. We are simply trusting our Lord that another building, school, or place may be made available to us for this purpose of teaching His Word to these "would be" babes

Since we had no vacation whatever^ last year; we saved and
scraped in order to make a trip to the World's Fair at Brussellsj Belgium last week. We spent four days there, and had a wonderful
time I

David and Debbie Ann had their f i r s t taste of real American

Hamburgers and Hot Dogs at the American Pavilion.

They sure tasted

good after not having had any for more than two years! Vfe "washed them down" with genuine Malted Milks, another treat which we can't get in Germany* It was an education for all of us, as we visited the Pavilions

of countries from all over the world.

Introduction: It was Paul's desire and prayer that men "might "be saved". As we apply this portion of the Roman letter to the Mission work in Germany, it is with our hearts that we too, desire and pray for their
salvation.

A. Some are bound by the law of the Old Testament.

B. Some are bound by the laws and teachings of men. C. Although they are "taught in all things", they are ignorant of God's righteousness through Christ
II And They Must Be Brought to Eaith in Him. A. Their Eaith must be completed through their
confession of Him with their mouth and with their life

B. This Faith must come by hearing, and hearing by

the Word of God.

C. Paul gives us a Divine order for spreading this

Faith-giving gospel in verses 14 and 15*

A. There is no difference between Jew and Greek, for

we shall all be one in Christ Jesus.

B. In return for our Missionary labours in Germany,

we will enjoy Christian unity with them.

The Lord willing, we plan to come home some time during the last week of May, 1960

for a year's furlough in the States. Atthlstime,

we will have completed our first term on the field consisting of four and one-third years. God has so blessed ourwork thata furlough is imperative In order to recruit more workers
and to raise more funds to meet the increase

listeners are very sad especially those from Iron Curtain countries. These people ore actu ally risking prosecution and imprisonment for daring to listen to a Western broadcast espe cially a religious broadcast! Since my operation, I'm afraid, sometimes, that I don't do my share in helping myhusband. It seems I have a very limited amount of time and strength; andwitha homeand three children to care for, that is about my limit. However, we all help in mailing out the sermon copies once a week. I hope to do more as my strength permits. We do want to thank you wonderful folks for all the nice things you have done and are doing for us to make our work in Germany an even greater joy! We love to read your letters to us, and it means so much when you are so far away from those you love. We are all looking forward to our furlough. Bobby will have to get acquainted with his
Grandma all over; for he was only three months old when we came to Germany.
