(6) ii) A precast concrete post weighing 50 Kg and of length 6m shown in fig. is raised for placing it in position by pulling the rope attached to it. Determine the tension in the rope and the reaction at A. (10)

(OR) b) A force f acts at the origin of a coordinate system in a direction defined by the angles x=65 and z=60.If the component of the force along the y direction is equal to -180N, determine: (i) The angle y (ii) The magnitude of the force, and (iii) The components of the force along a line through the origin and point A (3, 2, 1). (16) 12. a) Four forces act on a 700mm X 375mm plate as shown in fig. a) Find the resultant of these forces b) Locate the two points where the line of action of the resultant intersects the edge of the plate.

(OR)

b) Reduce the system of forces shown in the following fig. to a force couple system at A. (16)

13.a) Find the moment of inertia of the section shown in the figure about its horizontal centroidal axis. (16)

(OR) b) Derive the mass moment of inertia of a right circular cone with respect to (i) Its longitudinal axis (ii) An axis through the apex of the cone and perpendicular to its longitudinal axis. (16) 14 a) i) A train starts from rest and attains a velocity of 45kmph in 2 minutes with uniform acceleration. Calculate i) acceleration ii) distance travelled in 2 minutes iii) time required to reach a velocity of 36 kmph (8)

(ii) The motion of a body moving on a curved path is given by the equation x=4sin3t and y=4cos3t.Find the velocity and acceleration after 3 seconds. (8)

(OR) b) Two ships A and B depart a port at the same time, ship A sail at a speed of 45 km/hr.Ship B sails at a speed of 30 km/hr in a direction inclined at 30to the direction of A. Find the relative velocity of one ship with respect to the other. Also find the time at which ship will be at 50 km each other. (16)

15.a) A 7m long ladder rests against a vertical wall, with which it makes an angle of 45 and on a floor. If a man whose weight is one half that of the ladder climbs it, at what distance along the ladder will he be, when the ladder is about to slip? Take coefficient of friction between the ladder and the wall is 1/3 and that between the ladder and the floor is . (16)

(OR) b) A ball of mass 1kg, moving with a velocity of 6m/s, strikes on a ball of mass 2kg moving with a velocity of 2m/s at the instant of impact, the velocities of 2 balls are parallel and inclined at 30 to the line joining their centers.
